These two systems are different binaries. They are essentially two different compilers (JITs)interfacing to the same runtime system. The client system is optimal for applications which need fast startup times or small footprints, the server system is optimal for applications where the overall performance is most important. In general the client system is better suited for interactive applications such as GUIs.

You may see the same messages over and over again. If the users are pure POP3 users, they will have no way of telling the server to either refill mail into a read mail folder, when they choose to leave mail on the server. Moreover, the POP3 client does not delete the mail after retrieving it, so they may see the messages over and over again until leave mail on the server is turned off. When "Leave Mail on Server" is selected, your mail client does not issue the commands to our mail server to delete the messages once they are downloaded. This means your mailbox will never decrease in size.
