If you are being redirected to another page when trying to log into WebCT, you probably have spyware or adware on your computer. Spyware is a type of software that sends information from your computer to other sources, from the websites your browse to potentially information you type on the keyboard, such as passwords and credit card numbers. For this reason, spyware jeopardizes the security of your machine.

WebCT accounts become active on the first day of classes each semester. If you register on or after the first day of classes, you will have to wait 24 hours for your account to become active. Immediately contact your course instructor. You may have a special condition WebCT ID or password. See the faculty directory to e-mail your instructor. You may call your instructor concerning these special conditions, but it is generally recommended that you e-mail your instructor.

It is possible that you have additional security set on your home computer. There is a “Check Browser” link on the WebCT entry page which should help you access WebCT. If you are still unable to access WebCT, please contact the Service Desk.

Yes, all you need is a web browser and access to the Internet. You log in using the same address (http://www.ucl.ac.uk/webct/) and enter your UCL username and password as normal. Is your password longer than 8 characters? If so, type the first 8 characters only into the password box. If no, it’s possible your password has come out of synch with the WebCT system. Please change your password using the web form at: https://www.ucl.ac.uk/is/passwords/changepw.

At the beginning of the semester, you will need to send an email to the instructor after you have fully read and understand the course policy. After the instructor receives the WebCT account information from ITS, he will email you the account information using the email address you sent.

Also some students are redirected to a search page. We have found that this error occurs when software called spyware is installed on the computer. Go to the troubleshooting page for solutions and suggestions on how to correct the problem.
