Once you select a donor, the process generally takes about two to three months. This is an approximate time frame and can vary based on different factors related to a particular cycle. Family Creations will explain the time frame and process in detail upon acceptance into our program.

We won’t know the exact date of egg retrieval until two days prior to the procedure. We estimate it is about 12-14 days from the start of your IVF cycle.

The procedure itself lasts only 15 to 20 minutes. To ensure your safety and well being, you will recover at our office 45 minutes to two hours following the procedure. Because you will have been sedated, you will need a friend or family member to drive you home and possibly stay with you for the day. You will probably be able to resume your normal activities the next day.

You should anticipate a menstrual period within 10 days after you donate. Following the next menstrual cycle, your body should be back to normal.

Patients need egg donors for a variety of reasons, the most common being age related. Sometimes, however, the need for an egg donor stems from cancer treatment, premature ovarian failure, or genetic abnormalities that were present from birth. As a woman gets older (usually around age 40 but sometimes earlier), ovarian function begins to decline and egg quality becomes such that a viable pregnancy and baby will not result.

A woman usually produces only one egg per cycle during ovulation. However, it would not be practical to attempt third party reproduction using just one egg. For that reason, the egg donor is given hormonal injections to produce superovulation. The number of follicles which may contain eggs are then monitored by ultrasound during the cycle. The amount of hormones can be adjusted during this time to produce more follicles or to allow them to mature.

The entire profile could be done on one day ie. ( Day 1 or 2 or 3 ) of the donor's menses and we would get the reports within 3 days.

Only clients who have spoken with one of our staff and have completed the intake process will be given access to our online registry. While every recipient has a different set of criteria, it is important that you submit good quality photographs of yourself (preferably a headshot and a three quarter or body shot), along with a completed detailed application. The recipients will only have access to the information that you provide.

We use intravenous (IV) sedation, which is administered by a nurse anesthesiologist. Occasionally, you may experience the following short-term side effects: nausea, vomiting, sleepiness. Therefore, we instruct you to rest for 24 hours after egg donation. You are also required to be picked up by somebody after the egg donation and mustn't drive for 24 hours.

At the appropriate time, you will be told when to administer an hCG intramuscular injection to trigger ovulation. Precisely 36 hours later, the egg retrieval procedure will take place. For the retrieval, you will be given anesthesia so that you will be very comfortable during the procedure, and the eggs will be removed through aspiration (gentle suction). No surgical incision is necessary. The procedure involves the insertion of a flexible catheter through your vagina into your ovaries.

the time of the egg retrieval the recipient will receive the first egg, the donor egg two, the recipient egg three and so on. After the procedure is completed the embryologist will examine the eggs to make sure that the initial split will give each patient a fair amount of equally mature eggs, etc. If it is determined that the split needs to be adjusted this will happen by the decision of the embryologist.

You will be given intravenous anesthesia and the doctor will use a vaginal ultrasound to guide a thin needle into the ovarian follicles. Fluid containing eggs is removed with gentle suction and examined at the Center's IVF laboratory. Mature eggs are removed from the fluid. Following exposure to the husband's/partner's sperm, the egg(s) is/are fertilized.

Unlike the surrogate, the egg donor's actual role is brief in duration, but no less important. The psychological assessment of the egg donor focuses on her psychological state, which will rule out mental illness or issues that would preclude her from being a donor. It will also address her definition and perception of ovum donation to ensure that she has a clear understanding of what it means to her to be an egg donor.

Yes. Those that have chosen an egg donor from an agency or have made arrangements with a family member or other contact, may bring that individual into our program if the donor screening requirements and criteria have been met.

The ideal egg donor is between the ages of 21 and 32 (some clinics will accept donors as young as 19 up to age 34), in good health, with a good health history, a non-smoker, non-drug user, height/weight proportionate, and have a schedule flexible enough to accomodate the necessary 8 to 12 local appointments plus travel (one to two days for initial meeting/testing with recipients clinic and approx. one week during the week the retrieval is set to take place).

Usually the reproductive endocrinologist will not recommend more than six (6) donations in a life-time.

If you match with a Surrogate or Egg Donor and she decides not to go forward before the egg retrieval or transfer has taken place (although, due to our intense pre-screening process it's unlikely this will occur)-or if, during medical or psychological screening it is determined there is a problem that disqualifies her from becoming a Surrogate or Egg Donor- will match you with another Surrogate or Egg Donor at no additional charge.
