What if my property has a high water table?
Septic Systems New Jersey, NJ Septic Tanks, New Jersey Septi...If during soil testing it is determined that the water table is high (less than 5’ below the surface) the engineer would be required to design a mounded system under conventional means. What this means is that the “zone of treatment”, the layers of gravel and sand where all the effluent will be filtered cannot be sitting in the water table. The conventional septic system’s entire zone of treatment is approx. 7’ deep and MUST sit above the water table.
