What if the plating wears off of a metal mouthpiece?

JodyJazz Frequently Asked Questions
Regarding plating: Plating is not only cosmetic but it protects you from the very slight chance of brass poisoning. Our metal JodyJazz mouthpieces are made from a solid bar of brass. Then there are three layers of plating starting with Copper then Silver or Nickel and then the Gold. We use heavy Gold in 24kts. Over the long run the top layer of Gold can start to wear off. You are still protected from brass poisoning by the other two layers, which will not wear off. See similar questions...

Is the outside shape of a mouthpiece important?

JodyJazz Frequently Asked Questions
The outside shape of a mouthpiece is more important than most people think. Hard rubber mouthpieces open up the mouth more than a metal mouthpiece. This accounts for part of the sound difference between hard rubber mouthpieces and metal mouthpieces. A duckbill beak has a different feel from a standard beak. Our JodyJazz Classics have an outside shape more similar to metal mouthpieces than to hard rubber mouthpieces. See similar questions...

Place your bees wax in a cup of hot water (not boiling water) boiling water will make the wax melt, we only want it to become soft. Once it is soft enough to mould you can roll it into a long cylindrical shape, just like a small snake. Starting at one end of the "snake" press it onto the end of the didgeridoo. Continue pressing it all the way around the top of the didgeridoo. While it is still soft, mould it into a size & shape that is comfortable on your mouth. See similar questions...

The mouthpiece does not have a slit at the end. What do I do?

Care and Use/FAQs
The valve has a very strong memory and when new, the slit may not readily appear. If after squeezing a few times on the flat ends, it still does not appear, DO NOT CUT. First, hold the mouthpiece where the oval ends are horizontal. Apply slight pressure with a non-sharp object, like a paper clip, vertically. This should open the mouthpiece. NEVER USE SHARP INSTRUMENTS on the Bite ValveTM. It is a precision part with extremely tight tolerances. I threw the little cap on the end of the tube away. See similar questions...

Will I have to play a different brand or strength of reed if I change to a JodyJazz mouthpiece?

JodyJazz Frequently Asked Questions
Maybe. A new mouthpiece requires a new reed because your old reed has conformed to the old mouthpiece. Also a different tip opening, baffle and chamber might require a different brand or strength of reed. It is very important to keep an open mind about reeds when trying a new mouthpiece.
