When an unformatted hard drive or CF is inserted into the recorder the user is prompted to format media if it is not already a FAT32 volume. If a new Compact Flash or hard drive has audio or other data files present but the medium is not a FAT32 volume, the 7-Series will see the volume as unformatted and prompt for formatting. To get the best result, choose Create Image File command from Drive menu (or context menu) to copy the damaged data to another hard drive. You can create the Image of segments of the partition, Image of the whole partition, or even Image of the full hard drive. This capability is not built into the OSD by default, but there is an easy 5-minute "hack" that will allow you to add this functionality. crweb has ported an ftp server that can be downloaded and run on the OSD. If you have your files on an old Mac with a SCSI drive internal or external; and your new Mac does not have a SCSI external connector or use SCSI drives internally, what can you do?
