Students may take graduate courses in order to enhance the undergraduate degree with their advisor's approval. Once approved by the advisor, the student must get permission to enter the course from the instructor and obtain a letter from the Dean of the school offering the course. The graduate course will appear on the undergraduate transcript and will not count as graduate work for the student.

A limited number of both scholarships and graduate assistant opportunities are available, offered through the School of Social Work. These competitive gifts, based on work and volunteer experiences in the profession, academic merit, and promise in the field, are awarded to incoming students upon admission. All students who selected on their initial application an interest in merit-based awards will be considered for these monies.

No. About half of our applicants apply during the fall of their final undergraduate year, less than half of the applicants have already graduated at the time of application. In addition we typically have several applicants who apply during their junior year. Yes, that may be possible if your undergraduate degree is closely related to ECE (e.g., Physics). However, you should contact the dept. via email prior to submitting an application. Also, leveling courses may be assigned. The dept. will not conduct a pre-evaluation of credentials (other than suggested in question #19). However, you may wish to make contact with a potential advisor prior to formally applying.

No. This plan is available only to freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors. If you are currently a precollege or non-degree undergraduate student and you have applied for regular admission, you will be eligible to choose a tuition plan the first fall semester for which you enroll as a degree-seeking student.

For undergraduate programs it's 2.5, whereas for graduate programs it is 3.0. Any student securing lesser than that would not be granted the degree.

No. Your undergraduate degree can be in any field, provided your grade-point average is high (the average undergraduate G.P.A. for admitted MMH students has been 3.3.) In fact, only a small number of MMH students studied hospitality as an undergraduate - most students come into the program with social science or traditional business degrees.

Applicants for a graduate program must have earned a bachelor's degree or higher in an institution accredited by one of the six recognized regional accrediting associations. ESU offers numerous graduate assistantships to master's/doctoral seeking students. All full-time graduate assistants receive a stipend and tuition waiver. “Full-time” (20 hours per week) graduate teaching and research assistants are eligible for low-cost health insurance, a portion of the premium for which is paid by the university.
