Q.--Do your soaps lather well?

Frequently Asked Questions About Handmade Soap
A.--That is one of the things my soaps are known for. When I develop a new recipe, one of the first things I look for is a good, fluffy lather. If the finished soap doesn't lather well, I will work with the recipe until it does.

Why don't handmade soaps lather like regular bars?

Private Label Questions and Answers
There is an inverse relationship between lather and moisture. Increase moisture and you decrease lather. Handmade soaps have a lot of moisture by their nature. Lather is not their strongest point - mildness is. Castile Liquid Soaps and Gels are less moisturizing, and have more lather, than handmade bar soaps. Some water is harder (minerals) than others. Hard water gives poor lather.

Q - Why doesn't Thieves Foaming Hand Soap have a thick lather like other foaming soaps?

Thieves essential oil & Essential Oils… more tha...
A - Many people are under the impression that thicker lather means deeper cleaning, when in fact, it is primarily the other ingredients and not the lather that is cleaning the hands. The ingredients that cause soap to foam are called surfactants, and rich foaming surfactants are made from synthetic ingredients, which may be irritating to the skin. Thieves Foaming Hand Soap is formulated with natural surfactants, derived from sugar beets, so it gently and effectively cleanses the skin.

Q.--Why do most store soaps make me itch and give me dry skin?

Frequently Asked Questions About Handmade Soap
A.--A lot of companies will extract the glycerin at a certain stage of the soapmaking process. It is then sold separately or added to other products. They are left with a "soap" that is something akin to detergent. As if that isn't enough, a lot of them will even add harsh additives and fillers. This is usually covered up with heavy perfumes and dyes. Some of the "soaps" selling out there aren't even real soaps. They are usually called beauty bars or something to that effect.
