The City of Cypress contracts for animal control services with the Orange County Health Department, Animal Control Division. Complaints or inquiries may be made directly to Animal Control at (714) 935-7419.

Dogs do bark, but it isn't natural or necessary for them to bark continuously. If you are having a problem with a neighbour's barking dog then you have two main options. First, for the sake of keeping on good terms, you should consider approaching your neighbour and politely let them know that their dog is causing a problem. The dog's owner is often unaware that this is the case and it would be helpful to them if you could explain when the dog tends to bark.

Barking dog complaints can be made to the Newberry County Communications Center (803)321-2222 24 hours per day. The Communications Center will then route the complaint to the appropriate agency.

Before reporting a dog that barks loudly and frequently, first try to contact the dog's owner. If the problem is not resolved contact the Police Department at (415) 467-1122. The Police Department will investigate all barking dog complaints and will try to contact the owner of the dog. Many times the owner is unaware the dog is causing a problem for neighbors and is willing to take immediate action to correct the problem. We will not tell the responsible person who made the complaint.

The Animal Care Services Department addresses issues involving animals. Please call the Animal Care Services Department directly at (916) 808-7387. The City Operator is available to 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to help direct your call to correct City department. We must witness the dog barking or running loose. If you have a complaint, call while the action is in progress, not after the dog has been tied up or has stopped barking.

It is the nature of a dog to protect his "home" by barking to ward off strangers; however repetitive barking is not only unnecessary, but also annoying to those who live within earshot. If you are being disturbed by excessive dog barking, call the police department at the Non-Emergency Number listed above and an officer will respond to the home of the barking dog to speak to it's owners.

It is always recommended to speak with the neighbor first, to advise them of the concern about the barking. If it persists, there is a complaint process you must go through. Three neighbors complaints are needed before action can be taken. The County Animal Service Division (681-4397) can investigate or for more information you can also call Santa Barbara Shelter (681-5258).

It is a violation for a dog to bark in a manner that disturbs the peace of a neighborhood. We are aware that dogs will bark when they see something or someone. We look for a cause of the of the dog's barking or whether the dog is barking for no reason.

An officer will be dispatched on the same basis as that of a noise complaint (above) and provided the caller is willing to sign a complaint. If the dog is a nuisance on a regular basis, Pinellas County Animal Control should be contacted at (727) 582-2600.

You probably can't stop her. Barking is a natural behavior. You can, however, control the barking. First you control the dog's environment — don't leave her outside to bark as often and as long as she wants to. Second, if she is outside and barks, call her immediately and bring her inside, or go outside and find out what she's barking at.

We suggest that you first try to talk to the offending pet owner one on one. Many pet owners are responsible people who do not mean to offend anyone. During business hours, Monday through Friday you can contact Contra Costa County Animal Control at (925) 335-8300. If after business hours, you can contact the Brentwood Police Department through the dispatch center at 778-2441.

My dogs bark at every stranger that walks by the house or mail man or garbage man. Is there any way to stop my dogs from barking so much, I am worried that my neighbors are getting irritated. We are having some trouble keeping our dog from digging up the bulbs in our rock gardens. She keeps digging no matter what we do.
