First year applicants must complete the Dental Aptitude Test (DAT) administered by the Canadian Dental Association. Only the most recent DAT score will be used. The DAT must have been completed within the two years prior to the application deadline. NOTE: The DAT is conducted on 2 occasions each year – February and November. For the December 1 application deadline, the last acceptable DAT test date is the November prior; not the following February.

All students applying for the TechLEAP/ WebLEAP program with the internship option must take the Aptitude test. If you are not looking for an internship from the TechLEAP program, you would not need to take the aptitude test. However, we encourage people to take the aptitude test because it gives both prospective students, enrolled students, and the Program Director a baseline from which to advise students on their career options, and to make class schedule and career decisions.

The only time you would retake the NJATC/AIR Aptitude test is if you do not at first qualify for the oral interview by achieving a score of five (5) or above on a stanine scale. You will not be eligible to retest for a period of six (6) months from the previous test date. Qualifying test scores are good for a period of two (2) years. If you reapply after that time period you will be rescheduled to retake the test.

No. For application purposes we will accept the American Dental Aptitude Test. We will consider the Reading Comprehension, Perceptual Ability, Academic Average, and Quantitative Reasoning sections of the ADA DAT.
