For the retrieval, you will be given anesthesia so that you will be very comfortable during the procedure, and the eggs will be removed through aspiration (gentle suction). No surgical incision is necessary. The procedure involves the insertion of a flexible catheter through your vagina into your ovaries.

We won’t know the exact date of egg retrieval until two days prior to the procedure. We estimate it is about 12-14 days from the start of your IVF cycle.

Other methods that work include the use of autoclave ovens. The choice of buffer and antigen retrieval time is antigen dependent.
