When we go to the Longhouse for a ceremony or a social dance, we wear traditional regalia. For the women it may be a buckskin dress or a semi- long, cloth ribbon shirt worn over a skirt that is worn with leggings that are attached at the knee. The blouse, skirt and leggings are beautifully beaded. The beadwork designs are woodland designs, which depict flowers and animals.

Wear comfortable, metal-free clothing (i.e., sweat pants, T-shirt, shorts, metal-free bra, etc.). Please do not wear any jewelry etc to LHR on the day of your procedure. While there are some facilities for locking valuables away, we strongly encourage patients to leave all valuables at home.

Although not specifically required by NFPA 70E, it is recommended that covered employees be provided FRC daily wear with an ATPV (Arc Thermal Performance Value) of at least 8. This satisfies the garment requirements for a HRC 2 task.

Traditionally the Iroquois lived in bark and wood house called longhouses. Today our houses look very much like anyone else's. But many of us live in old wooden houses that were built by great great uncles and other friends and relatives of long ago. There are trailers and new houses on our reservation too.

From mid June to the end of the season air temperatures are usually above 80 degrees and the water feels great. Dress like you're going to the beach. Wear a T-shirt, swimsuit or running shorts, sandals or sneakers, hat, sunglasses (optional) and sunscreen (strongly encouraged). All of this material is available at the SFR Store.

Given Alaska's fluctuating climate, we strongly suggest you dress in layers and wear comfortable, low-heeled walking shoes or sturdier shoes for activities such as hiking. You may want to bring a fold-up umbrella and a light jacket in your carry-on.

The benefits of DermaSilk are most pronounced with continual use as its activity depends upon close contact with the skin. DermaSilk can be worn for shorter periods of time or removed for those occasions where it would not be appropriate.

Therapeutic massage is typically performed with the client undressed; however, if you are at all uncomfortable with being undressed you should wear loose fitting comfortable clothing. Regardless of your state of undress, all areas not being worked on will be draped at all times.

To achieve the best benefit from the practice, we recommend that students wear loose comfortable clothes with soft shoes, as Tai Chi is a very relaxed, quiet and soft exercise. A Kung Fu suit is the best clothing to wear for practice and demonstration purposes. A full Kung Fu suit is only an optional requirement, and not always necessary.

The Haudenosaunee traditionally ate--deer-elk-turkey and other wild game. We also have gardens with our principal crop being corn, beans, and squash. We also had a diet rich in fish. Fish like-sturgeon-walleye-bass and pike. However, do to environmental poisoning of the waters we do not consume the amount of fish we once did. The absence of fish and the increase in processed foods has led, in part, to illnesses like diabetes amongst our people.

We move in and out during the day so it's best to dress casually and in layers. In winter, dress for extra warmth, down to your socks. Comfortable walking shoes/sneakers are a must.
