How do you get your cartoons into your computer?

Free Cartoon Clipart by The Wizard of Draws!
First, I sketch out the cartoon very loosely on paper. I usually have a good idea in my head of what I want, but if I have to illustrate a clients' idea, it may take awhile before I get the idea across in a composition we both can agree upon. Then I tighten up the sketch and depending upon my mood, I will ink it on the paper or overlay a type of tracing paper called vellum, on the drawing and ink on the vellum. Once the cartoon is inked, it is scanned and cleaned up with Adobe Photoshop.

My original versions of FMOCT were written out entirely by hand in raw HTML in Microsoft Notepad. I have since started to use Macromedia Dreamweaver 4.0 with additional hand-scripting for fix-ups. Dreamweaver is a professional piece of software, and is not freeware, so please don't ask me for a copy. You might be able to find a demo at the Macromedia site, or on download.com, but I can guarantee you that it will have a thirty-day or so trial period after which you can no longer use the program.
