Each chapter contains a quiz or quizzes that review important content from that chapter. The number of quizzes and quiz questions varies depending on your course. The quizzes do not affect your final exam score but will provide you with and excellent opportunity to master the course material. You also must take and pass a final exam upon completion of the course.

In my mind, essay grades start at 50 for a turned-in on-time assignment and earn points as I read. For course investment, however, everyone starts at 100 and loses points (down to zero, if necessary) for missed classes and inadequate participation, or other elements of course investment.

Right now when students read the results of their exams, the grade equivalency score shows them how well they answered questions based on their grade level. A student who scores an 8.5 will understand that he/she is scoring at the midpoint of the 8th grade year in each category.

The Grade 3-8 tests are, in many ways, similar in format to the current grades 4 & 8 assessments. Each of the grades 3-8 tests will: contain multiple choice questions which continue to measure student understanding of basic mathematics and arithmetic skills; and continue to require students to support their solutions to mathematical problems by showing steps they used in the solution and explaining the mathematical processes and concepts involved.

Your name will be placed on an eligibility list for the county or counties of your choice. When a state agency intends to fill a position, the personnel office requests the eligibility list for the position title and a particular county. The employing agency contacts the individuals inviting them to interview for the vacant position.

Your child will be tested one grade above his or her current grade level. Example: 5th grade will take 6th grade test, 7th grade will take 8th grade test.

Because strong reading skills are such an important component of success in school after grade 3, special emphasis has been placed on the results of the Grade 3 Reading Achievement Test. Unlike the other tests, the Grade 3 Reading Achievement Test is given up to three times a year. Students first take the test in the fall of grade 3 and may take the test again in the spring. Students are credited with the higher of their two scores.

If an otherwise reasonable accommodation infringes on the course’s fundamental goals, then the student may not be entitled to the accommodation in such a situation. A guideline would be to determine if it is speed or knowledge that is being tested.

The only directions that may be read to the students are noted in the Teacher's Directions and are related to either the sample questions in Book 1, or to preparing the students for taking the test. There are no directions associated with the test questions themselves that may be read to the students. In questions that ask for an answer to be given in dollars and cents, a dollar sign is generally provided, preceding the answer line, so this should not be an issue.

Please note these are general rules. In each grade level there are always some students who took an different Test Level than the majority of their peers.

There is no "passing" grade on the admissions testing. Testing is useful because it gives a profile of a student's individual strengths and weaknesses. It also allows the admissions committee to compare the performances of all those who are applying on a common plane. However, it is fair to say that the vast majority of our students score in the top 10% nationally on their testing.

MSMS requires one score from the ACT standardized test for admission. Although an earlier score would satisfy this requirement, it would probably be to your advantage to retake the ACT now to see if your score improves. Remember that MSMS does not penalize you for taking multiple tests. We only take the highest score.
