Will I be able to repair my car if I crash or damage the engine?

GPL Frequently Asked Questions
Car repair is optional; as in solo play, it depends on the difficulty level selected by the host. In Novice and Intermediate races, the car can be repaired by hitting Shift-R. In Pro races, Shift-R is disabled in races, and in Grands Prix, it's always disabled. When you repair your car with Shift-R, your car is also fitted with new cold tires and your fuel tank is refilled to the level at which you started the race or practice run.

Porsche 951 RacerX - Formulae 1 Rocket Fuel FAQ
A 5 or 10% increase in the aromatic content of gas will most likely be well within the refining specifications of gasoline defined by ASTM D4814, which specify an aromatic content of between 20% and 45%. What this means is that if the 92 octane gas that you started off with had an aromatic content of say 30% and you increased it by 10% to 40% you would still be left with a mix that meets the industry definition of gasoline.

Can idling damage my car's engine?

Frequently Asked Questions
You bet it can! Because the engine isn't working at its peak operating temperature when it's idling, the fuel doesn't undergo complete combustion. This leaves fuel residues that can contaminate engine oil and damage engine parts. For example, fuel residues tend to deposit on spark plugs. As the amount of engine idling increases, the average temperature of the spark plugs drops. They begin to gather dirt more quickly which, in turn, may increase fuel consumption.

The damage model is more severe - and more realistic - in Pro and Grand Prix races, while the cars are much more robust and less easily damaged in the lower levels.
