Some notebook manufacturers ship notebooks with the infrared port 'disabled'. In the BIOS settings or in the Control Panel / System / Device Manager, there is an option to enable the infrared port. Unless the port is enabled then it will be as if the device did not have an infrared port. Consult your manufacturer's documentation for the proper procedure.

To add wireless to a Vigor router which doesn't have built-in wireless access point, you simply need to purchase a "Wireless Access Point" (WAP) and plug it into one of the LAN ports (labeled P1-P4) on the back of your Vigor.
