We use FileMaker Pro as the backbone for the Sound Ideas SuperSearch software. Installation instructions are provided on the documentation that accompanies our Demo and Electronic Catalog CDs. Once installed and started, there is a Help file available that we suggest you read thoroughly before you begin your first search process.

Firstly, ensure you have the latest version of K9. It is in continual development and features are added often and bugs resolved. Starting with version 1.24 I added the ability to log detailed communications data to a file that can be used to help track down problems associated with receiving emails. To enable this option use the Log session debugging data to file "debug.txt" checkbox on the Configuration page.

There are a number of things that can keep you from logging in correctly. Firstly, make sure you have the correct password. If you lost your password, you can retrieve a new one at this page. If you know you are typing in your pin/username and password correctly, no error is telling you otherwise, but you are still not logged in, take the following steps, attempting to login after each one, and see if that alleviates the problem. A typical question is: "I have a [printer model] and the main board appears to have gone out. Well actually it powers on normally without any errors in the idiot lights but it will no longer print. What do I need to fix it?" The printer's lights and how they blink provide error information. Check Apple's site for PDF's of manuals for your printer, if you don't have the manual in hand, and see if you can match the pattern of lights to specific errors.

This is due to a conflict with 3 network files - CLARISNW.DLL, NETBIONW.DLL and NOVELLNW.DLL. If you delete these three files which are located in the program directories, FileMaker will run. If you did not change the default install program directories when SuperSearch was being installed on your hard drive, delete these three files from the following directories that have been made on your hard drive: C:\SI-SFX, C:\SI-RFMUSIC, C:\SI-XV, and C:\SI-MUSICAUDITION.

If you have a complete copy of the FileMaker Pro software, you will be asked for a password when you try to open the version that is included in SuperSearch. This is an idiosyncrasy only - you do not need a password to use the program. Just hit "Enter" on your keyboard or click "OK" to enter the program and everything will work fine. You can even import and export data without the password. Yes.

JPT can work with FileMaker Pro but it requires the use of AppleScript to remotely control JPT. For more information about using JPT with AppleScript, please see “Scripting JPT”.
