COSC does not limit the number of credits that students can be awarded or use toward a Charter Oak degree. If you are planning to transfer portfolio credits to another institution, you will have to find out what their policy is. Some schools do limit the number, type or level of portfolio credits you may apply toward a degree, and it is your responsibility to find out about any limits or restrictions.

This is a matter of school choice and design. Some schools have designated portfolio coordinators who may be teachers with reduced schedules; in other schools, it is an administrative responsibility. Some schools create a committee to advocate for, support, and implement the school's portfolio system. If a school has an electronic portfolio system, the technology coordinator should be a part of planning the system.

Assessments (for example, checking the range of motion of your spine) allow us initially to identify what structures are causing you discomfort, and later to gauge your progress after consecutive treatments. This helps to provide you with an efficient and competent care.

You may choose to retake any individual portfolio entry or assessment center exercise on which you received a score of less than 2.75. You are not permitted to retake any portfolio entry or assessment center exercise on which you met or exceeded a score of 2.75. If you plan to retake more than 7 entries/exercises this year, you may want to consider applying to repeat the National Board Certification assessment in its entirety.

You may choose to retake any combination of portfolio entries and/or assessment center exercises on which you received a score of less than 2.75. However, keep in mind those candidates who must declare a specialty area must retake entries and exercises within that same declared specialty area. Teachers who are not currently in the classroom may "borrow" a classroom in order to complete the portfolio requirements for National Board Certification.

The weights for your certificate area are described in the Intro section of your portfolio instructions. The weights are set at 16% for each of the three classroom-based portfolio entries, 12% for the Documented Accomplishments entry, and 6.67% for each of the six assessment center exercises.

A portfolio is a scrapbook of pictures and information about you, your family, friends, pets and whatever else you would like to share about yourself. We will present any information you want to provide about yourself to birth parent(s). As such, you can be creative. A portfolio should also contain a "Dear Birth Parent(s)" letter.
