Gallery tries to override the upload_max_filesize and post_max_size directives in its .htaccess file. This means that changing the setting globally may still result in it being overridden at the .htaccess level, so you may want to just change the directive there instead of globally. Unfortunately the GIF image format is copyrighted, and this is makes it impossible to use them on the site, as the graphics software we use (to create the smaller 'thumbnail' images) no longer supports the GIF format. We can only accept pictures that are in either JPG or PNG formats. A PNG (Portable Network Graphic) picture file gives superior results to a GIF and is usually smaller (takes up less disk space). Check the Write/Overwrite permissions are enabled in the FTP Console (Config > Users > Anonymous > Permissions). Check the Windows NT filesystem privileges (Right-click in Windows Explorer > Properties) for the root FTP folder and the destination folder. The user/anonymous account must have write access.
