I have Linux/UNIX system. Can I play the games?

Frequently Asked Questions Help Center - Kickin Games .com
Absolutely, Java supports multiple types of systems! All you need is a browser that supports Java. We have seen our games run on many different types of UNIX systems. If you are using the X11 GUI interface, make sure you are running the games directly on that UNIX system otherwise you may bring your server and network down to a crawl (guess how we found this out!).

Can I play windows games on my xbox-linux?

Talk:FAQ - Xbox-Linux
Depends upon the game. If it's a DOS game, try DOSEmu (apt-get install dosemu in Xebian to install). Afterwards, you'll likely need to run dosemu not as dosemu, but as xdosemu. If it's a Windows game, Wine (apt-get install wine) may *or may not* run it. Regardless, there is no 3-D support on the XBox, so all games will run at lower resolutions/details (assuming they run at all). Try searching around for a site regarding the particular game you want to run (Half-Life, for instance) for more info.

Is Linux Unix?

General Information
Officially an operating system is not allowed to be called a Unix until it passes the Open Group's certification tests, and supports the necessary API's. Nobody has yet stepped forward to pay the large fees that certification involves, so we're not allowed to call it Unix. Certification really doesn't mean very much anyway. Very few of the commercial operating systems have passed the Open Group tests.

Yes and No: Some games, for example some id Software games like Quake III, Quake IV and Doom III, Unreal Tournament, Cold War, and many more have Linux versions. Most popular games, alas, only work on Windows and occasionally on Mac OS. Some Windows games, such as Battlefield 2 or GTA Vice City, can be run on GNU/Linux with Wine or its non-free variant Cedega, which involves some unpleasant effort for the user. Web Hosting Universe -hosting FAQ host frequently asked ques...
Which operating system you decide to use should depend on what features you need. For example, if you are already using IIS, ASP, VBScript, Windows Media, Microsoft Access, Microsoft SQL Server, or Visual InterDev, and you don't have the time to learn Unix-based solutions, you'll have to choose a Windows NT or Windows 2000-based host. Just because your desktop is Windows-based doesn't mean you should use a Windows host.

Can FSHost run on Unix/Linux?

Unfortunately, no. Flight Simulator uses Microsoft's DirectPlay (part of DirectX) for all of the game communication, so that's what FSHost uses to talk to it. Unfortunately DirectPlay is a proprietary system, and so far hasn't been ported to the Unix environment. (There are some systems such as WINE that have made attempts, but so far I don't believe anyone's gotten it to work completely yet.) I'd love to build a Unix version though, so maybe one day we'll be able to.
