My new tiles have a covering of haze after grouting - how do I remove this?

Tile cleaning, grout cleaning, grout sealer, grout cleaner, ...
If the grout is less than 5 to 10 days old then try using Grout Haze Clean-Up neat. If it is older then you will have to use a mild acid such as Phosphoric Acid Cleaner. DO NOT USE STRONG BRICK ACIDS as they can do irreparable damage to the grout joint itself. Unlike glazed tiles, polished marble (and honed limestone) is sensitive to acid cleaners (even mild ones like Phosphoric acid) and will almost certainly be damaged if you attempt to clean them using such products. Q.Can I specify that there be no grout joints between tiles?

Stone Source
We believe that you should not. In order to be able to install stone tiles without a grout joint, there have to be three perfect conditions: a perfectly flat floor, a perfectly square tile and a perfect installer. Since all three, for all intents and purposes, are rarely perfect, you cannot get a floor without grout joints. However, in a perfect world; in other words, a project without a budget, you can have all three, but be prepared to spend lots of additional money. See similar questions...

Q.What are the tightest grout joint widths I should specify for natural stone tiles?

Stone Source
That will usually depend on the tile. Marble, granite and limestone tiles are usually cut from blocks and then turned into tiles on a tile saw. If produced by a good tile factory, these tiles will have a size variance that will allow for a 1/16" grout joint. Imported slate, and other stones, such as quartzite and sandstone, are usually produced with a size variation that will only allow joints from 1/8" to 3/8", depending on the stone and factory. Do I have to grout my tiles? Surely this will spoil the picture?

Handpainted tiles by Susan Griffiths, Tile Artist
For practical reasons tiles need to be grouted. This doesn't detract from the over all visual impact as the panel is designed taking account of the grout joints. Hand made tiles are more irregular in shape than machine made tiles and therefore require a larger grout joint. (So a rustic hand made tile would not be suitable for a geometric design.
