BARF World recommends feeding puppies up to 10 % of their body weight. Therefore, if your pup weighs 10 lbs you should feed 1 lb of food divided between 3 or 4 feedings per day. Growing puppies, especially the large breeds, should be kept lean so adjustments to feeding amounts will have to be monitored closely.

Once payment in full reaches us, we make an appointment for your puppy to see our veterinarian for his/her final checkup. If the puppy must fly home, we will get their health certificate and book a flight to ship the puppy home. We ship puppies twice a month... on the second and fourth Fridays.

Prices of puppies depend on quality, availability, trend, and personal opinion of the breeder. Responsible breeding cost a lot of money. But, the result is visible in the puppies! And, responsible breeders will answer all your questions clear and honest.

This is a question with no easy answer. Most people seem to have their own unique definition of a puppy mill. Some people believe a puppy mill is anyone that has more than one or two litters of puppies a year. Some believe that if any animals are kept caged, it must be a puppy mill. Others believe that anyone with "X" number of dogs is a puppy mill. Still others base their definition of a puppy mill on the care and condition of the dogs.

There is nothing toxic in the materials of the puppy training pads. If the plastic is ingested, call your veterinarian. Please make sure that the plastic backing passes through your pet's bowel movement.

This requires more thought than most people realize. First make sure that this breed suits your needs and will fit into your home and family. Learn as much as you can from people who have owned Ridgebacks.

For some people an older dog that has had some training, is housebroken, and is through with chewing is just what they would like to have in starting out with an Anatolian. Whereas others just have to have that little bundle of fur to nurture and watch grow. Some people feel as though they do not truly bond with a dog, unless it starts out with them as a puppy. Others may like knowing from the start the personality and size of their new dog.

One way is to visit local dog shows that represent the breed that you are interested in. Other ways include looking in dog magazines such as Dog Fancy, Dog World, or the annual Dogs USA, and then call or write to the breeders listed. Look for breed club listings, and ask for a copy of the newsletter or any other breed information. ASDI,Inc., has a list of breeders who are signatory to this club's code of ethics, and who may have puppies available, or know someone who does.

You will need to puppy-proof your home. You need to pick up anything you don't want the puppy to chew. You will need to get basic supplies that you might not already have like dishes, collar, lead, beds, crate, toys, treats, etc. You will need to decide what to feed the dog for food. You should prepare your yard for the puppy by getting rid of any toxic plants or inappropriate items and check your fencing. You should read about Airedales and the needs of a puppy.

At the time you take your puppy home it has successfully completed only one half of the critical 16 week period in its life. The remaining 8 weeks are extremely important for both you and the puppy in terms of training and socialization. Those first 8 weeks in your home will mold the puppy into the dog you will live with for the rest of its lifetime. The first week or so will be an adjustment period for both you and for the puppy.

Before the puppy leaves us it will be examined by a Veterinarian and get a health certificate. At the same time the puppy will recieve its first Distemper/Parvo shot. This is done as close to 8 weeks of age as possible. The puppy will need two booster shots of Distemper/Parvo, all shots should be spaced 3-4 weeks apart, ideally you would have the puppy vaccinated at 12 and 16 weeks. Another booster Distemper/Parvo should be given 1 year from the last shot, so about 1 year and 4 months of age.

Puppies can be put on heartworm preventative as soon as they come in for their first set of vaccinations at 6 weeks. The heartworm preventatives that we recommend also prevent against intestinal parasites as well as heartworms. Since heartworms are very prevalent in this region of the country, it is imperative that you give your pets heartworm preventative.

Feed the pup morning and evenings, as much as he will eat in one sitting then remove the bowl until the next meal. Of course you do need to keep an eye on your puppy's/dog's weight, you should be able to feel the ribs under the skin fairly easily. Adjust your portions appropriately if the puppy is putting on excess weight. Remove his water source about an hour before bedtime and fresh water should be available with every meal.

At your puppies first visit it will receive a DHLPP (Canine Distemper) vaccine. This vaccine needs to be boostered every 3-4 weeks until your puppy is 16 weeks of age. We recommend vaccinating Rottweilers and Dobermans for DHLPP out to 20 weeks of age. We also recommend vaccinating your puppy for KENNEL COUGH or BORDETELLA, which is usually given at 12-16 weeks of age.

Your puppy may have some loose stool/diarrhea, a bloated belly, vomit occasionally, or some owners will even see "worms" in their puppies stool or vomit. These are some indications of possible INTESTINAL PARASITES. This is why we recommend bringing a stool sample to your puppies first visit so that we may determine if your puppy has INTESTINAL PARASITES and if so what kind. At which time we will dispense an oral medication to treat your puppy for INTESTINAL PARASITES.

Both have their advantages. All puppies are cute and Beardies are particularly adorable. Pups can be trained in the manner owners wish. Nevertheless, adults are often housebroken, done with teething and have good house manners. If you have a demanding schedule, an adult may fit into the household more quickly than an infant puppy.
