If the copied DVD is a DVD?RW, try copying the source DVD to a DVD?R disc which is compatible with more models of DVD drives and DVD players.

First of all, please turn off your anti-virus software and other burning applications which might access the CD/DVD units at the same time. Try a different brand of recordable media. We recommend you use 4x or 8x DVD+R for burning. Another problem can be you are not using the right type of disc for your player.

This is an optical drive that will write both DVDs (Digital Versatile Disk, Data or Video) and CDs. The LightScribe DVD+/-RW / CDRW combination drive can read, write and, using the appropriate media, rewrite a variety DVD and CD media, including CD-R, CD-RW, DVD+R, DVD-R, DVD+R DL, DVD-R DL, DVD+RW and DVD-RW. DVD+R, DVD-R and CD-R media are compatible with this drive but are a single write media. The DVD+RW, DVD-RW and CD-RW media can be written to multiple times.

Make sure you are using the right type of disc for your player. Some players will only read one of the formats (+ or -) but both, others won't read either. DVD-R is still the most compatible format, especially with older DVD players. If you try to play a movie (DVD) copied to your hard drive, you may get an error message. Because all DVD movies are in encrypted format. In order to open a encrypted movie, we need a decryption key. This key is stored in inaccessible area of the DVD. It cant be copied to hard drive.

For DVD videos, you'll want to work with DVD-R or DVD+R rather than DVD-RW or DVD+RW because you may not be able to play DVD RW discs in normal DVD players. If you insist to burn to DVD RW, DVD+RW is recommended as DVD-RW is less stable.

Answer: Some older DVD players are missing support for newer formats such as DVD-RW and will not be able to read these discs. Check with your DVD player's manufacturer for information about supported DVD formats. This information may also be available at http://www.dvdplusrw.org/.

Make sure your player can play the disc you are trying to play and that you're not playing a region-coded disc in a player from another region or trying to play a PAL disc in an NTSC-only player (or vice versa). First of all: Make sure you're not playing your DVD's on a CD player (yes it's happened to several of my customers). You must have a DVD drive. For Video CD, your DVD player must be capable of playing VideoCD 2.0 discs. Check the specifications page in the instructions included with your DVD player to see if the VCD format is supported. Your DVD player must be compatible with the type of DVD or CD disc used to record your title. Many DVD players are not compatible with some brands of -R, -RW, +R or +RW discs. Your DVD player must support the speed at which you burned your media.

The audio presentation portion of our demo is presented as CD Audio. If you have a CD Player option for your computer, you will be able to hear the demo at your computer. Otherwise, any CD player will play the audio tracks of our demo CD.

Almost all movies are encrypted with CSS copy protection. (See 1.11). Decryption keys are stored in a normally inaccessible area of the disc. If you copy the contents of an encrypted DVD to a hard drive, the keys will not be copied. If you try to play the VOB files, the decoder will request the keys from the DVD-ROM drive and will fail.
