The first thing that you need to understand about digital pictures is that they don't have an inherent DPI rating. That's right, the resolution of digital images is not measured in DPI. Digital images are collections of pixels. The DPI of an image depends entirely on how you decide to display it or print it.

Images on the Internet are displayed at 72 DPI. This number is rather irrelevant though in working with email campaigns. When you are editing images you should focus only on the actual pixel width and height rather than its relationship to inches. The relationship of pixels to inches is of importance to print design, but when designing for the web you should think all in pixels.

Scanned images may be stored in the program. These can include scanned medical reports such as old records, lab or xray reports, correspondence, etc. You may also scored digital photographs in the system.

We will print with whatever dpi is approved on your files. We recommend that you submit black and white bitmap images scanned at least at 600 dpi, grayscale images at 300 dpi, and full-color photos at 300 dpi for the best possible quality. We output to our digital copier/printers at 600 dpi. If your files were submitted at a different dpi than what we recommend and that resolution has been approved, that is what will print.Back to Top

A – No, but there is 2 megabyte (MB) limit on file size. We recommend a scanner DPI setting of 150 or less to keep the PDF file size as small as possible.

DPI stands for dots per inch. The more dots there are in a square inch - the higher the resolution of a photo, meaning better photo quality. But when you have more dots, you also have a larger file requiring a longer download time. So, you want to use a lower resolution for your web graphics. Web graphics require a lower resolution than print because of limitations presented by computer monitors. I generally use 72 dpi for web and at least 225-300 dpi for print.

Images submitted to ZAPP TM must be 1920x1920 pixels. The DPI setting is not crucial, however you should set your images to at least 72 dpi. Please click here to see Image Preparation instructions.

If your scanner only allows settings in Dots Per Inch (DPI), the resulting image size in pixels (a.k.a. dots) will be the size of the image in inches times the DPI. For example, an 8 by 10 inch photo scanned at 150 DPI would yield a 1,200 by 1,500 pixel image. That same image scanned at 1,200 DPI would yield a 9,600 by 12,000, which is larger than StillMotion Creator can handle.

Make sure that the power supply is connected to the film drive and the printer is plugged into an electrical outlet, because the pass-through port must have power in order for your printer to work properly.

Yes, PaperPort will allow flipping and rotating of scanned images, along with other editing feature such as cropping and adding annotations. First always scan in hi-resolution mode for optimum results, secondly remember if you capture images as well as text they must first be edited separately. You can either cut, & or paste the image or text. OCR will not recognize certain symbols, and handwritten messages.

Yes. We suggest that you examine your materials carefully for overall image quality. Also make sure that your images meet the resolution requirements called for by the application that you have in mind. If you're not sure just ask. We will be happy to look over any materials that you may have.

Your images were scanned and maximized for display on your computer's monitor. They were captured at 72 ppi (pixels per inch) with compression applied to minimize file size & they have been saved in the progressive jpeg format. There are two "versions" of each given image, a thumbnail with dimensions of 100x100 pixels and it's full size counterpart with the dimensions of 300 × 300 pixels.
