Abnormalities or diseases of the foreskin can be treated conservatively, if and when they occur, on a case-by-case basis. Probably the most common abnormality of the penis is "phimosis", or tight foreskin. (This is not the same as the natural attachment of the foreskin to the glans in very young children, which is completely normal.) The foreskin can normally be retracted by adolescence.

Children can be cruel, and will find things to pick on another child about, whether it be his chubbiness, glasses, or freckles. Some parents think that their son should be circumcised so that he will "match" his father, brothers, or friends. As parents, we can help our children to feel good about their bodies and to respect individual differences. Parents often express a fear that their son will "feel different in the locker room" if he is intact.

Your son's foreskin is a healthy, natural part of his body. Any part of the body may develop problems. It is possible, though very unlikely, that the foreskin will develop problems. However, most foreskin problems are easily treatable. When your son becomes an adult, he may choose circumcision for himself. However, there is a good chance he will prefer not to be circumcised. Leaving your baby's foreskin alone preserves his right to a whole and intact body.

Circumcision does not need to be done right away. There is no need to feel pressured by your doctor. Take your time. If you intend to ask your doctor to have your son circumcised, ensure that the procedure is carried out by an experienced surgeon. Sometimes circumcision is considered "minor surgery" and inexperienced residents are given the task of performing it. This leads to a higher rate of serious errors and complications.

A circumcision done in a hospital is a medical procedure and not a brit. When done as part of a brit, the circumcision is a religious ritual sanctified with the recitation of blessings.

Circumcised children are also teased. The body of a non-circumcised boy is normal, healthy, and whole. A proper understanding of his own anatomy and the reasons he was allowed to remain intact, will enable a boy to feel self-confident about his body. Furthermore, circumcision is already uncommon internationally and is becoming less common in the U.S. infant's foreskin is non-retractable and should not be forcibly retracted for cleaning. It does not require any particular care.

Since little boys do sometimes compare the styles of their penis, many parents feel that sameness is important among brothers. Just as you learn a lot from your first birth and may choose a different style for the next, not every child must be circumcised. If you choose to leave your next child intact, your problem will most likely be explaining to your circumcised child why his foreskin is missing.

Many doctors continue to misinform parents by telling them that circumcision is harmless or even beneficial, so oftentimes parents are not to blame. We suggest that parents take the time to sit down with their son and explain that they never would have agreed to the circumcision procedure had they known it was going to hurt him. Explaining that some damage from circumcision can be reversed through non-surgical foreskin restoration is also good advice.

Some parents, even those who have newfound doubts about the ethics of circumcision, are tempted to circumcise their new baby boy if their other sons are already circumcised. They may worry that the older boys will resent them for allowing their penises to be cut while leaving their younger brother's penis intact. But continuing the cycle of genital mutilation will not make things better.

A director of children's services will be accountable for education and social services and for overseeing services for children delegated to the local authority by other services. Children's trusts will fulfil delegated functions according to an agreed strategy and a clear partnership agreement setting out how the trust will work, what it is required to do and what resources it has.

It's possible that your daughter will bid more for certain items. For example, she might value an expensive painting more than your son, who might not feel that he can afford to own the painting himself. But if the son believes that he can sell the painting, he'll bid an amount close to the market value and your daughter (if she wins) will be charged a fair price. Claims of improved hygiene have proved baseless. To work as intended, the foreskin in the flaccid state of the penis, should cover the glans, (head) of the penis, so as to prevent the glans from rubbing against your clothing.

Yes. A circumcision is not a bris. If a baby was circumcised in the hospital on the first or second day, even if someone recited prayers and blessings, that child still needs a Brit Milah because it took place before the eighth (or proper) day. A regular Brit Milah ceremony is held, but since the baby is already circumcised, a hatafat dam brit is performed. The blessings are recited, a drop of blood is drawn from the penis and the baby is named.
