The technical GPA is used to determine admission to upper division majors. It is calculated from science, math, computer science, and engineering courses (with the exception of Bio 1009 and Geo 1001) that are required for any IT major. Please note that preparatory courses such as precalculus and Chem 1011 do NOT count towards the technical GPA.

Most of the time, only courses completed at UNCG count toward the UNCG GPA. Exceptions to that policy include local colleges and universities that participate in the Greater Greensboro Consortium. All classes count as a Q-drop except for one-hour classes (i.e. KINE 199, BIMS 101). There is one exception to this rule: if a science lab is Q-dropped and the lecture section is not, it will be considered a Q-drop.
