What causes the scent that I smell after tanning?

General Tanning FAQs
In a word, "melanin" is the cause. Ultraviolet light in the UVA range causes melanin to enlarge and turn brown. During the process, dermatologists say a chemical reaction takes place. A natural side effect of the reaction is the aroma. This occurrence is normal whether you've been tanning inside or outside. Some tanning lotions have been designed to minimize or prevent the odor from occurring, but ultimately a shower will remove the odor.

Does Dremu Oil have a scent? Is it supposed to smell like anything?

FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions), Amazing Emu Oil, Dremu Oi...
Dremu Oil has very little or no scent at all. However, as a pure oil without preservatives, it has a lower shelf life than many cosmetic products and will spoil if it is not used in about five or six months. After that time, the oil may begin to smell rancid. Since our largest volume bottle (1.7 oz) is used up in two months or less (when used as directed) most customers will never experience any smell at all.

The scent doesn't smell the same in this bar as it did in the last bar I ordered. Why?

Frequently Asked Questions about Handcrafted Soap
Sometimes it is necessary for me to order my fragrance oils from another supplier/manufacturer due to availability, etc. I pre-blend all of my custom-blended scents, but if I run out and need to make a new batch I can't guarantee that I will always be exact. I also may need to change one of the fragrance oils in the blend due to availability, and not all supplier's oils are going to smell the same. I try to keep my scents as consistent as possible, and have succeeded so far!

Why does my skin sometimes have a "burnt skin" smell after tanning?

Sun Splash Tans - Hawaii's Premier Indoor Tanning Salon
The smell is NOT burnt skin at all. This "after tan" odor that some get is caused by a friendly bacteria that lives on the surface of the skin. The smell is a result of the bacteria getting hot on the skin. Most of the indoor tanning lotions we carry include both antibacterial ingredients to eliminate the odor and fragrances to minimize the after-tan odor.

Is tanning natural?

Bronze Age Tanning&Salon | Olympia, WA | Frequently Aske...
Yes. Tanning is your body's natural protection against sunburn; it's what your body is designed to do. Anti-tanning lobbyists falsely refer to this process as "damage" to your skin, but calling a tan "damage" is a dangerous oversimplification. In fact, it's much like calling exercise "damage to your muscles." When you exercise, you are actually tearing tiny muscle fibers in your body. At first glance, when examined at the micro-level, this tearing could be called "damage.

When I turn my water faucet on it smells like rotten eggs. What is causing the smell?

Quality Control - FAQ
Typically the cause is water staying in the water heater too long. This causes the water to turn stagnant. Single handle type water faucets are typically being used in these situations and are not being fully turned to the cold position. This can occur when a water heater is too large for the amount of hot water typically used. It can also occur when the dip tube (cold water inlet) in the water heater deteriorates. Flushing out the water heater will provide an immediate temporary solution.

What's that smell?

It's fiberglassing resin, MEK catalyst, pastes, gelcoats and a number of other top secret ingredients ( the sweat off the craftsman's brow, the blood from the craftsman's fingers, you know the sort of thing...? ) added to the mix. CAN YOU SMELL IT?

Pennsylvania Propane Gas Association - PaPropane.com
If the smell of propane is present in the air over a period of time, “odor fatigue” can occur. The nose “gets tired,” and a person no longer smells the propane odor. Frequently Asked Questions
NO, NO, NO! The scent you put on the decoy will remain with it until removed. Do you want to be walking out of the woods in the dark carrying something with estrus scent on it? If you're using a food based scent, it may get your decoy gnawed up by rodents when your hunting or when you store it.

Can I go tanning?

Tattoos by Chris Moniz .Com
A tattoo does fade from constant exposure to the sun or tanning beds. It does not matter at what stage the tattoo is at... constant exposure will effect it regardless. During the aftercare and the first couple of months of having the tattoo is when the fading effect of tanning can do more damage. I like to tell my clients to not bother with tanning the tattooed area for at least one year so that it has much time to settle in.

Is indoor tanning as effective as outdoor tanning?

Tanning Frequently Asked Questions & Benefits, FAQ
Yes, in fact, sometimes more so because you are in a controlled environment. Your skin produces a tan the same way in an indoor tanning salon as it does when you lay out in the sun: through ultraviolet (UV) light. However, out in the sun, you cannot control the amount of UV light exposure and trying to achieve an all-over even-body tan is very difficult. Indoor tanning allows you to control the amount of UV light, for all all-over even tan.
