We believe that you should expect to see, and be treated by, a registered physical therapist (PT) each and every visit to the clinic you choose. At our clinic, we never delegate an entire treatment to a physical therapist assistant (PTA) or physical therapist aide, as has become commonplace in many treatment models. Whereas using an assistant (PTA) for this purpose is legal, and is surely cost effective for the clinic, it is certainly not the highest level of care available to you.

Forty-three states have some form of direct access. Some state physical therapy practice acts require a diagnosis before a patient can see a therapist (this is the case in California, Michigan, and Colorado to name a few). Other states allow patients to go directly to physical therapists. In most cases, if you are not making significant improvement within 30 days, the therapist will refer you to/back to your physician.

On the first visit, your physical therapist will perform a thorough evaluation of the body area to be treated. After the evaluation is completed, a treatment plan will be established, including your personal goals.

We strongly feel that favorable outcomes require continuity of care and a trusting relationship between your therapist. Having said that we make every effort to provide you with the opportunity to follow through with the same therapist. The only exceptions would be if your therapist is going on a vacation or is unable to be present because of sickness.

In an initial examination and consultation, the practitioner will ask about your medical history and closely observe your body: the appearance of the face and body build, the shape and color of the tongue, the quality of the pulses, the appearance of the ear, and the feel of diagnostic areas such as the abdomen and back. An acupuncturist may test for weaknesses along the “meridians” and weaknesses in the muscles.

It depends on the cat! We usually spend up to 20 minutes on each visit and give all our furry friends a cuddle. We try to minimise the stress of being alone, so if the cat wants to be left in peace, we respect that.

Who is better to see, a PT that works for a physician or a PT that owns a private practice? We leave it up to you to draw your own conclusions but here are some facts. The studies indicate there were more treatments (visits per patient were 39% to 45% higher in physician owned clinics) and the cost was greater for those patients that attended a physician owned physical therapy practice (both gross and net revenue per patient were 30% to 40% higher) (1).

Physical therapy places great emphasis on the evaluation process. Your physical therapist will take the time to talk with you and perform a thorough physical evaluation to identify the dysfunction that causes your pain. Your physical therapist will plan a treatment regimen suited to your individual problem and begin working to restore proper motion and ease discomfort.

Oftentimes, your physician will give you a recommendation or a listing of physical therapists in your area. Sometimes your insurance company will guide you with regard to who is "in network" for your insurance plan. If you have a specific request, you need to let your physician or insurance company know.
