The music you download from Ruckus cannot be burned as music CDs. That's a built-in feature of the encryption on the songs. The license agreements Ruckus has with record labels prohibit burning songs to CDs since CDs can be easily copied and given to non-Ruckus users. They have a partnership through Buy.com to offer burnable songs at 99 cents a track (or less!). You can purchase burnable songs through the Ruckus page by clicking on the CD icon next to the track you are interested in.

Students may also purchase copies of songs from Napster to keep forever and burn them to CDs or transfer them to a Napster-compatible MP3 player. You can listen to all the downloaded songs your hard drive can hold without being connected to the Internet. Napster does allow you to import MP3s and other digital music. Napster does not monitor, review, or even look at imported songs.

Ruckus to Go is Ruckus's additional service that makes it possible for you to transfer your Ruckus songs to your mp3 player so you can take them anywhere. This service has to be purchased separately from Ruckus for a nominal fee per semester. Before purchasing Ruckus to Go, make sure your portable player is compatible.

Yes you may use the Windows file copy method. Go to My Computer, click on the D: drive and select the Export folder. From this folder select the file you wish to burn and click copy to CD and then follow the Windows prompts.

There are several flavors of DVDRWs. For maximum compatibility and reliability reasons, we recommend DVD-RW with a speed rating not larger than 2x. The filesystem on CDs/DVDs is ISO9660 which is a fixed type of filesystem: once created no files can be added/deleted. To add or delete files on a CDRW/DVDRW the disk should be first completely deleted and the new filesystem containing the old files plus the changes should be re-created.
