There are a variety of zipper lubricants on the market, available at scuba diving stores (used for zippers on wetsuits). The best bet is to rub a candle made of paraffin wax along both sides of the zipper and move the zipper back and forth a couple of times. We recommend using a light based oil to lubricate the stones. Honing Oil, a light mineral or petroleum oil, should be used during the honing process. You can use water, but the honing oil should then be used to clean the stones. Honing Oil does more than serve as a lubricant. Normally, the worm/worm gear drive of the 4800 rotary tables does not need any servicing. However, under severe conditions replenishing the grease will prolong the life of the gears. Unscrew the red plug that is in the access hole located on the top surface of the 4800 table. Rotate the table under motor control until the worm can be seen in the access hole. We recommend using a small amount of WD-40 type of lubricant on the frame pivot bolts and the spring-loaded hold-down tubes. Do this once a day or as needed. Avoid getting any in the microswitch or other electrical components. We also recommend a small amount wiped on the drill frame guide rods to ease adjustment.
