To increase the chance of conception, it is best to have intercourse the day of the LH surge as well as following three days after. A faint line (or a faint positive test band) does not indicate a positive result for an LH surge. While the presence of a faint line on a pregnancy test may indicate a positive result, a faint line on an OPK is always negative. Unlike pregnancy tests, morning is not the ideal time to take ovulation tests, as LH is synthesized in your body early in the morning. It will not show up in urine until later in the day. The ideal time to test is in the afternoon, around 2pm, though testing may safely take please from 10am to early evening.

Ovulation predictor kits determine whether the luteinizing hormone (LH) is detected. The luteinizing hormone (LH) rises right before ovulation occurs. Therefore the kits are supposed to detect whether you're going to ovulate but cannot ensure that you do ovulate. Ovulation is likely to occur within 24-36 hours. This is the most fertile time. Sexual intercourse within this time frame is advised. There are many factors that can affect the ability to become pregnant. It can take normal, healthy couples many months to achieve pregnancy and often they may need to use the test kit for 3-4 months before achieving pregnancy. If pregnancy is not achieved after 3-4 months, a physician should be consulted.

Do not attempt to interpret results after the five minute test reaction time. Depending on the concentration of hCG in the test specimen, positive results may be observed in as little as 40 seconds. However, to confirm negative results, the complete reaction time of 5 minutes is required. A positive result can only be determined within this time interval.

Intercourse closest to the time before ovulation and within 6 hours after ovulation gives you your best chances for conception.

You may be able to get a positive HPT as early as 10-14 days after ovulation. Many women aren't able to get a positive test until the first day of a missed period.

Ovulation is the release of an egg by the woman's ovary. In almost every menstrual cycle, the woman's ovary releases an egg. There are thousands of eggs inside the woman's ovaries. The natural chemicals in her body trigger the development of one of these eggs every cycle. When the egg is ready to be fertilized, it comes out of the ovary and travels down the woman's tubes to her uterus. If the man's sperm has fertilized it, the egg can attach itself to the uterus and the woman is pregnant.

The frequency of intercourse generally should be that which the couple considers most enjoyable. However, during the time of the moth when ovulation takes place, the most advantageous frequency of intercourse is every other day (i.e., every 48 hours). The reason for this interval is that sperm should survive for 48 hours within the woman's reproductive tract and the egg should be subject to impregnate for 12 to 24 hours.

During the time of ovulation, an egg is available to be fertilized for only about 12-24 hours. But since sperm can live in the body for 3-5 days and then the egg is available for one day, your most fertile time is considered to be about 5-7 days.

The first test is usually done shortly before the baby leaves the hospital. For the most reliable results, it should be done after the baby has received at least 24 hours of breast or formula feedings. In some cases, babies leave the hospital before they have had milk for 24 hours. They should be tested before they leave the hospital, but some of the test results will not be accurate because the baby hasn't yet had enough milk.

Test results outside the specified time frame are invalid. An evaporation line can appear that can be mistaken for a positive result. It is advised to wait and test again another day.
