It then is supposed to dial the modem and procede. When I run kermit from the shell, it has no problem dialing the modem. However, when kermit is spawned by expect, it will not dial. This is one feature that has been left out of MT-NewsWatcher 3.0. MT-NewsWatcher 3.0 now treats articles as MIME messages, so it can do all the cool MIME stuff like separate out inline binaries, detect HTML sections and so on. Unfortunately, spoiler characters don't fit nicely into this picture, as it would require the message to be split up in a way which makes no sense from a MIME perspective. This feature may reappear in an update to MT-NewsWatcher 3.0.

Sending control characters is easy: just write a send command and enter the control character you want to send. I like to enter most control characters literally - since the resulting script is more readable. However, your editor has to allow this. For example, suppose you want to send a Control-A. Conventionally, most editors display this as ^A, but you can't just enter ^ and A. (This will just send those two characters.

Solr can index any characters expressed in the UTF-8 charset (see SOLR-96). There are no known bugs with Solr's character handling, but there have been some reported issues with the way different application servers (and different versions of the same application server) treat incoming and outgoing multibyte characters.
