It depends on your college. Some colleges require mortarboards for Masters candidates, and others tams. If tams are acceptable, it is usually the 4-sided version for Masters degrees.

In social psychology, for example, masters degrees are far less common than PhDs.

Entrance to the PhD is competitive and you will have to re-apply in your last semester of the Masters program. If, during your Masters years, you have demonstrated to be among the top students in your class and have shown a particular interest and passion for economics, you will generally be admitted to the PhD program. Remember that you can also apply directly to the PhD program.

Yes. The M.Ed in Counselling Psychology is offered part time; however, preference is given to full time applicants and classes are held during the day. The M.Ed in Educational Studies is geared towards in-service teachers, so we have many part time students in that program and classes are held at night.

A masters degree in communication or another relevant field, or the equivalent degree from a university in another country, is required for admission to MM&C. We will only consider students who have completed a bachelors degree for the masters or doctorate degrees. There are fundamental basics that are covered in the bachelors that are not repeated in the higher level courses. Without this foundation, you would be lost. We are willing however to review an applicants request to move to a higher level course depending on their level of maturity and past ministry study and experience.

Through 12/31/2008 bachelors prepared individuals without a postbaccalaureate degree may become Fellows if they have eight years healthcare management experience and meet the remaining criteria.

The "Special Masters" degree option no longer exists; the Graduate School has replaced both this degree option and the "Terminal Masters" degree with the "Non Thesis Masters Degree." The Field of Statistics does not currently offer a MS degree option in statistics to students pursuing degrees in other fields of study. The Special Committee for each PhD student must contain at least three members.

No. The blue and gold tassel is a souvenir. Your commencement tassel will be provided with your cap and gown rental or may be purchased separately if you already have a gown.

The tassel should hang on the right. During the ceremony, you will be instructed to move your tassel to the left side to show you have graduated.

All applicants, regardless of other degrees held, are required to take the GRE. No exceptions are made.

You will need to submit another application for the 2nd major and pay the application fee. You can only count 3 courses from your 1st Masters on to your 2nd. You must complete a minimum of 21 new hours for the 2nd degree (or 7 courses). See Graduate Catalog pgs. 45 & 46.

Students completing the Master's program will earn an M.S. Ed; Masters in Education from the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education.
