The generic name for wood-plastic-composites utilizing wood impregnated with acrylic monomers and polymerized within the wood cells by gamma irradiation. Some versions are cured by heat radiation. (In the case of acrylic/wood parquet, a semi-built-in finish is developed.)

For pens and smaller projects, we stock standard, exotic, and rare species of woods as well as colorful acrylic blanks in either pre-drilled or solid and ready for drilling. For larger projects, we carry turning stock (1-1/2" x 1-1/2" x 12"L, 2" x 2" x 12" L) and Bowl Blanks (2" x 5" x 5"). A recommended wood size is listed with each projects’ description.

Acrylic is the most commonly used material in traditional domed curb mount and self-flashing skylights. It comes in a variety of tints and is an extremely reliable material for use in a wide range of shapes and sizes. It can be formed into domes, circulars, pyramids, ridges, etc...

Most of our Northern White Cedar is harvested from Vermont, with a small additional amount from the Adirondacks in New York.

Ned seems to have an affinity for hard maple, as nearly every model was first made in that hardwood. They were all pretty much changed to other offerings in the later Gibson years. We've combed through all of the old lit and here's our best guess so far (in order of introduction): P series - Hard maple, also listed as rock maple. Chances are this wood was used for it's entire, brief production run as a graphite neck model.

All of our display cases are glass and mirror. While we have carried an acrylic line of display cases in the past, it has been discontinued.

Because no technology has been found yet that resolves the plastic "aging" problem that causes dull-looking in acrylic tank after certain years of use, and because "easy-to-get scratched" on acrylic tanks is still a major disadvantage, our answer is No, despite the fact that making curvy acrylic tank would require a lot less investment in equipment, labor, and technology than making curvy glass tank.

Acrylic items are given the French Lilac process, (used on glass), to achieve the distinctive frosted look. Example: 27205. The drama of frosted glass without the weight.

Acrylic nails are the most common form of nail enhancement in the salon. They are strong and durable and provide a nice shape to the nail, especially for clients who have an abnormal shape to their nails. Acrylic nails are applied using a sable brush with liquid and powder. They can be applied over a natural nail or plastic tip, or they can be sculptured. They usually produce an odor but can be odorless. The nails harden on their own in just a few minutes.

Acrylic material, clear or non-glare used in place of glass. 1/8" thick. Compared to glass it is lighter in weight and resistant to breakage. Must be cleaned with a special cleaner and a very soft cloth.

The preservative formulation includes water repellent components (waxes and resin) dissolved in a low boiling point hydrocarbon solvent

Different raw materials yield different grades of paint. Kirker manufactures three grades of paint, suitable for different automotive refinish applications. ACRYL-GLO Acrylic Enamel is a traditional coating, most often used on passenger cars and commercial vehicles.

In the satin and gloss finishes which are commonly used on woodwork, oil enamels traditionally exhibited a richness, touch and leveling ability which was unmatched by waterborne paints. However, with the introduction of Eco, many professional painters and designers believe they have discovered an odorless, waterborne alkyd, which can be used interchangeably with traditional Hollandlac oil enamels.

Wood is always trying to come into equilibrium with the air surrounding it, so its moisture content can change somewhat after it's been dried.
