What does Convection Heating mean?

Weston Bros - HaveaHearth website
This describes the transfer of heat by heating, then moving a substance. Simply put, the heat from our fireplaces is distributed via convection. This is when the air in front of the fireplace absorbs heat, becomes bouyant and rises to the ceiling. This draws cooler air behind it, mostly along the floor, which in turn, absorbs the heat and rises up, pushing the already warmed air along the ceiling.

What is convection?

AVE - FAQ
Heat can be transported by radiation, conduction or convection. Low temperature bodies like the earth's surface and the atmosphere emit infrared radiation. Infrared radiation is ineffective in transmitting heat upward in the atmosphere because infrared radiation is absorbed by the atmosphere, mainly by water vapor and carbon dioxide. Conduction is the primary heat transport process in solids. See similar questions...

How are conduction and convection heating different than infrared heating?

Schwank Infrared Heaters :: Radiant Gas-fired
By conduction through solid bodies, such as through a windowpane in your heated house to the (cold) outside. The rate of heat transfer by conduction is proportional to the temperature difference and the conductivity of the material through which the heat travels. Through convection by warming air and moving the warmed air to a cooler area. See similar questions...

Why does the Komfort Pets Carrier use a dual conduction/convection system?

Komfort Pets : Frequently Asked Questions
Our engineering team has ingeniously designed the Komfort Pets Carrier around the natural temperature control behaviors of pets. We observed that pets tend to migrate to cool spots (such as tile or concrete floors) in the warm weather and warm spots (such as pavement heated by the sun) during cooler months. We have provided a highly conductive cooled/heated aluminum portion of the floor of the carrier that will come into contact with the pet's paws and underside (conduction sequence). So what does that mean?

Well apparently it has to do with something called gene expression, which refers to the pattern in which genes are switched on and off. And gene expression has a major effect on your body's biological processes. Each cell in your body contains a 'power-factory' that produces energy, called the mitochondria. See similar questions...

What are "convection" and "diapirs"?

Convection is the transfer of heat by vertical circulation. In icy satellite interiors, ice can be heated through radiogenic or tidal heating, whereas the near-surface ice is generally very cold. The warm ice is less dense than the cold ice, so it warm ice tends to rise, and the denser cold ice tends to sink, if the viscosity (consistency) of the ice in question is not too stiff. Warmer and thicker ice layers are more likely to convect. See similar questions...

How does the heating system work?

Apartment for Rent Genoa - Italy - Many Questions answered
If you are traveling during the cooler months (November through April), make sure you find out how the heat system works, we will help you with this of course and explain it on your arrival. The apartment has it's own heating system, wherefore you will not have to rely on any central heating system. See similar questions...

How does the heating work and is it safe?

Frequent asked questions about waterbeds
Waterbed heating comprises a heating mat and an adjustable thermostat. The heating mat is installed under the watermattress and is connected to the thermostat, which is sited outside the bed. Good heating elements have a heat sensor built into the element itself and are electrically safeguarded. It is best to choose a European heating element because these are specifically designed for 240 volts, rather than being a modification of the American 110 volts. See similar questions...

How does solar pool heating compare with heat pumps for pool heating?

Cape Town Solar Pool Heating Specialist
The initial capital outlay for an electric heat pump is generally double the cost of a solar heating system. Over and above that, it requires electricity to operate. The unit also needs to be serviced on a regular basis which could be quite costly. See similar questions...

Will my heating bill go up?

Radiator Covers, Cabinets, Shelves and Radiator Grilles in U...
No, in fact it may actually reduce it because of our unique Reflectflow system which re-directs warm air back in the room. See similar questions...

How much electricity does the heating system require?

FAQ's
Others supply a dedicated 15-20-amp circuit for the installation of the boiler. However, the only electricity required by the boiler is for the controls and pump. A separate small pump and electronic controls operate the warm water circulation system. If you are calculating how much electricity is necessary for emergency backup, 5 amps will be more than adequate. See similar questions...

How does radiant heating work?

Frequently Asked Questions About Radiant Heating Systems
Though radiant technology works with virtually any hot water heat source or fuel (Oil,Natural Gas,Propane). Radiant heating includes two primary components: While conventional heating systems rely on air circulation to distribute heat, radiant heating takes advantage of the fact that warm air rises. Installed beneath a home's flooring, it radiates heat upward and outward, spreading warmth and comfort throughout the room. See similar questions...

What type of heating system does Abigold have?

Abigold
Abigold has radiant floor heat. This is the most desirable heating system for dog kennels since the heat is in the floors where the dog is relaxing and sleeping. Forced-air systems can spread germs, and the heat is lost through the opened doggie doors. Doggie doors are left open unless outside temperatures are very cold. Most dogs prefer having the freedom to go in and out at their leisure. Dogs that are sensitive to the cold will have their doors closed. See similar questions...

Does it do both heating and cooling?

Frequently Asked Questions regarding Geothermal Systems and ...
One of the things that makes a heat pump so versatile is its ability to be a heating and cooling system in one. You can change from one mode to another with a simple flick of a switch on your indoor thermostat. In the cooling mode, a geothermal heat pump takes heat from indoors and transfers it to the cooler earth through either groundwater or an underground loop system. See similar questions...

How does such a Solar Water Heating System work?

FAQs - GEDA
Your Solar Water heating System is designed to operate on thremosyphon or natural convection principle. The driving force for circulation in such a system is derived purely from the density difference between hot and cold water. No mechanical or electrical device is used to pump water through the solar collector. As the water gets heated it becomes lighter, and so tends to " automatically" rise, and in turn is displaced by the comparatively heavier cold water from the storage tank. See similar questions...
