It's possible we'll someday again generate I will happily pass this ptkFAQ.html on to the next engineer willing to take good care of it. I consider my cultivation of this FAQ as temporary, good only until a more suitable candidate offers a good home for it.

The program is in a continuing state of evolution. It is usually available in two versions, a “stable” version and a “development” version. A stable version represents a release of jEdit that is considered to be free of serious bugs or performance problems and suitable for general use. A “development” version includes new features or new elements of program design that require testing and possible further refinement.

The FAQ has been revised to focus on the big picture questions and provide insight to our intentions where we are not yet ready to share details. We've added some new answers and eliminated or modified others to reflect these goals.
