For foreign applications, we require a TOEFL score of 600. While your GRE score is important, we have no specific cut-off for GRE scores, and consider the GRE score to be just one part of your overall application. All applicants must submit a GRE score to be considered for fellowships or graduate teaching assistantships.

You need to take the GRE only if your undergraduate GPA was below 3.0. You need to take the TOEFL only if you have no academic degrees from English-speaking countries. The Graduate Record Examination (GRE) and Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) are administered by ETS.

Initially, we advise an international applicant to attach photocopies of his/her score reports with the application, but official reports issued by ETS will be required before full processing of that application will take place. In some instances, the Graduate School will accept certified copies of these reports.

When should I apply? The deadline for fall admission is May 15, but we start admitting students early in February. Applications that are received after we have started the admission process have a reduced chance of admission because there will be fewer open positions remaining. For fall applicants, we recommend that the application be mailed no later than mid-January in order to have the best chance of admission. The answer to both questions is yes.

The GRE must be taken by all interested applicants. For international or permanent resident students, the TOEFL exam is required unless you have an undergraduate degree from a U.S. institution.

Students applying for admission in US Universities are from a large number of institutions not only from USA but also from countries all over the world. It is impossible for the admission authorities in US Universities to have reliable and up-to-date information on the relative merits of the certificates/degrees/marks/grades awarded by these diverse universities.

The GRE and TOEFL scores should be sent directly from ETS to Cornell University, university code 2098. Xeroxed copies of student scores do not constitute official scores. You should plan to take the tests allowing enough time for the official scores to arrive before the Field deadline; generally this process takes 3-4 weeks; however, it is recommended that the tests be taken no later than October due to the large volume of testing that occurs after that time.

No, we avoid rigid cutoffs, but if your Verbal GRE score is below 500 your application must be absolutely outstanding in other respects to be seriously considered.

Once you ask ETS to send score reports to UCSB, please allow two to three weeks for processing. Once your scores have arrived, Graduate Division will update your application status.

The Graduate Division does not set minimum score requirements for the GRE. For international applicants required to take the TOEFL or IELTS, the minimum TOEFL score is 550 when taking the paper based test, 213 when taking the computer based test, and 80 when taking the internet based test. The minimum IELTS score for consideration is an Overall Band Score of 7 or higher. TOEFL or IELTS scores can be no more than two years old at the time of application.

The GRE is not required at this time. The TOEFL exam is required of all foreign graduates and the minimum acceptable score is 300. These results should be forwarded to CASPA during the application process. The WCMC institution code is 2250. NOTE: The WCMC PA Program's code is only a four digit code, which is different from the Weill Cornell Medical College code.

We must receive a GRE score on every USA student and students from an English speaking country that is not the USA (U.K, Canada, etc) You will not be considered for financial aid without this test.
