What does a performance exhaust do? Does it give more power?

SuperTrapp: Performance Exhaust
A performance exhaust is designed to improve airflow through the engine. Anytime you can improve the efficiency of airflow through a combustion engine you can increase performance. Supertrapp Industries has a whole new line of 2:1's, Mean Mothers, X-Pipes, and Phantom Pipes with bosses to accommodate the stock '02 sensors. Our pipes will perform without any re-mapping but we do recommend having your bike re-mapped for ultimate performance and durability.

Is it required to exhaust the power unit to the outside?

Untitled Document
Noting indoor air quality in a residential setting, Nutone recommends venting the exhaust to the outside. This is not mandatory, but is recommended for a complete installation. One of the advantages of a central vacuum system is the ability to vacuum up all items and microscopic particles that may not be captured by the primary filter (bag) will then be sent to the outside environment through the exhaust duct. What about the exhaust system?

Frequently Asked Questions
The "Classic" 427SC had competition pipes under the doors. Being real race cars, the finish was not particularly important, and they were typically painted with a simple high temperature paint - usually white (see the top picture), sometimes black. No gloss, and the paint didn't stand up very well. On the other hand, a simple spray can would rejuvenate the pipes. Some people, wanting a more durable finish, have there pipes ceramic coated. Central CT Coatings does ours. See similar questions...

Why does the roar of the exhaust increases?

Roncar ::: indústria, comércio e exporta&ccedi...
The life expectancy or only the baffle corrosion of an exhaust changes according to the way and the time of the exhaust use, the type of fuel, etc. Usually, this life time lasts around two years, but for reasons of low quality fuel, this time can be reduced in half. When the roar increases it means that the baffle corrosion is increasing until the moment that the baffle becomes hollow, which means, the steel wool has been exhausted and the only remaining part is the drilled pipe. How much does an Akrapovic exhaust system weigh?

Akrapovic Exhaust Systems FAQ
Exact weights are given in the technical specifications for each exhaust system, along with a comparison with the weight of the stock exhaust. It is very important to clean the exhaust system thoroughly after installation, as any dirt or debris will later be burned into the exhaust system. A contact cleaner can be used to clean the pipes, while for the titanium muffler outer sleeve we recommend using a multi-purpose spray lubricant (WD-40 or equivalent). See similar questions...

How does a high-performance oil allow the motor to produce more power?

FAQ and not-so-FAQ about engine oils
engine wastes fuel energy in several ways, and most of them are due to the laws of thermodynamics, which is another way of saying you can?t do much about it. But up to 6% of engine output is lost due to oil drag, made up of pumping losses and viscous drag between moving components. The transmission is included in this. Provided wear and friction are kept down, there are real gains to be made by using a ?tough? but low viscosity oil. See similar questions...

Q. Do I need a performance exhaust or a race-cat?

Why don't you have a cross-over pipe between banks on your performance exhaust systems for the V12?

It is true that a crossover can be of benefit to conventional V8 engines (with two plane crank) but only because they have an uneven firing sequence along each cylinder bank, which creates the rather delightful V8 exhaust note. A consequence of having two cylinders firing consecutively on each bank is that the flow rate is briefly doubled, then later in the cycle the long gap between firing impulses halves it, compared to the average flow rate. How much performance improvement can I expect by purchasing an Akrapovic exhaust system?

Akrapovic Exhaust Systems FAQ
Simply stating the final maximum horsepower rating is not enough; when we speak of increased power we also have to take the torque curve into account. Only by comparing both the power and torque curves can we form an accurate picture of the performance of a modified exhaust system in comparison to the stock system. See similar questions...

How does the barrel rifling affect the performance of the muzzleloader?

Dixie Gun Works muzzleloading, blackpowder and rare antique ...
The method of rifling the barrel will have a profound impact on the accuracy of the muzzleloader. The rate of twist of the rifling will determine the proper type of projectile. For slow twist barrels (1 turn in 56 to 72 inches) use a patched round ball. For fast twist barrels (1 turn in 16 to 28 inches) use a conical bullet. Medium twist barrels are designed to shoot both patched round balls and conical bullets. Round balls may be used in a muzzleloader with a fast twist with good results. See similar questions...
