It depends on the type anesthesia, and the time of your surgery. A preop nurse will call you the day before surgery and give you specific instructions. As a general rule, if your procedure involves anesthesia, you should not eat or drink anything after midnight. Again, your preop nurse will give you specific instructions.

If your cosmetic surgery at TIA is in the morning, you will be asked to have nothing to eat or drink as of midnight the night before. If your cosmetic surgery is in the afternoon, however, you will be admitted around noon and should have nothing to eat or drink after a light breakfast at six o’clock that morning.

Yes, your eating habits will change following LAP-BAND® System surgery. You will find that you become full or satisfied after consuming a much smaller portion of food than you did prior to surgery. It is important that you stop eating once you feel full, as overeating can trigger pain and/or nausea. In addition, we recommend that you eat slowly and chew your food carefully.

If the surgery is uneventful, feeding can be started on the same day once the patient has recovered completely from the effects of anaesthesia, provided no procedure has been performed on the bowel.

It has been said that since alcohol is expelled relatively fast you should cease drinking any alcoholic beverages at least 4 days before your surgery, but 2 weeks truly is better.
