First, don't panic. Discus can go awhile without eating. I wouldn't recommend it but a healthy fish can go a few days without eating and not die. You may have to "coax" them to eat with some live food or blood- worms. Of course there are parasite risks with live food and bloodworms but better to have to treat for a case of parasites then end up with a starved fish. You should also think that if the fish is not eating, something may be wrong with it.

Kingsnakes are known for being hardy eaters and usually do not seem to experience much in the way of feeding problems. They will, however, occasionally go "off feed" like other species. This can happen due an impending winter season or mating season. Snakes just seem to "know" when there are more important jobs to do than eating. Stress, parasites, disease, incorrect temperatures or humidity levels, and being housed with dominant cage mates are just a few reasons why an amphibian or reptile will refuse food. If it is a new herp that you have had for less than a few days do not be concerned. It often takes reptiles and amphibians a while to adjust to their new environment before they start to eat. Although most dogs get very excited over our flavor, there are some that may tend to be more cautious. We suggest adding a little warm water to the kibble. This helps to release the aroma of the food. Definitely add warm water to soften and release the aroma. When puppies are teething they may be shying away from their food.
