Yes. With traditional stick building moisture can become trapped within the open cavity of a wood stud wall, causing mold, mildew and rot problems. Since ICF's are closed cavity construction, there is no place for moisture to accumulate. In addition, foam, rebar and concrete are resistant to mold and mildew.

Fishes' fins turn whitish and die back. Fin rot often follows damage or injury. It can also be caused by poor water quality. Remedy: First, fix the water and remove any fin-nipping fish. Change some water (25% is good) and add 1 tsp/gallon salt to promote healing. If bad water quality or an aggressive tankmate was the problem, that should be adequate. Healing will begin within a couple of days. If it worsens, decide first whether it's fungal or bacterial.

Contrary to popular usage, dry rot does not mean rot that can happen in dry wood, or wood that has rotted and dried out. Dry rot is a specific kind of fungus, although the term is very commonly misused to describe all wood rot. This is unfortunate, because it disassociates rot from moisture. Wood rot always requires moisture, and the key to wood durability is the control of moisture. Wood that rotted long ago and is now dry was moist at the time of the rot.

Any coated deck screws will do. There is no need to go to expensive stainless steel fasteners as is suggested with the new formulae of pressure treated wood. If using nails, be sure to use galvanized to prevent rusting.

If you’re using a semi-transparent stain, find a stain and an acrylic latex caulk that match, re-stain then caulk. Semi-transparent stain doesn’t do a good job over caulk. If you’re using a solid color stain, caulk with the same acrylic latex caulk, then stain. A clear caulk will also work.

Laserdiscs are subject to what's commonly called laser rot: the deterioration of the aluminum layer due to oxidation. The large size of laserdiscs makes them flexible, so that movement along the bond between sides can break the seal. Like laserdiscs, DVDs are made of two platters glued together, but DVDs are more rigid and use newer adhesives. Also, DVDs are molded from polycarbonate, which absorbs about ten times less moisture than the PMMA used for laserdiscs.

Doing a CR (corpse retrieval) on the water will be functionally the same as anywhere else.

Oak is famous for its durability against rot and infestation and so doesn't need special treatments. Some people like to apply oak oil (boiled linseed oil) in their oak beams to slow up the drying process, but this is purely a matter of personal choice. Softwoods supplied by us are pressure treated against both rot and infestation.

Some laserdiscs are prone to deterioration over time due to "laser rot:" chemical contaminants or gasses trapped inside LDs during their manufacture gradually damage the disk's data layer. A disk with laser rot may play fine when new, but later develop playback problems like skipping or picture degradation. Laser rot is not visible when looking at the disk's surface - if your LD seems to be afflicted, make sure it isn't dirty or scratched and try it in other players.

Spanish Cedar and American Aromatic Red Cedar have little in common except their appearance. Spanish cedar (Cedrela odorata) is a very mild wood with good absorption characteristics and is used to line humidors.

If you are building your own humidor, your best bet is to try and buy some from a local cabinetmaker. Better still, let them cut and plane it close to size, as cedar dust is rumored to be carcinogenic! I can't vouch for that, but I will tell you that the one time I planed cedar without my respirator on, I was coughing for several days.

Yes, many are, and many home-builders use broken-up boxes as a source for Spanish cedar. I've used the thin divider pieces that come in many Fuente boxes to line several humidors. It's very thin, so makes a good laminate. note: Take care when cutting or sanding Spanish Cedar. The dust is quite toxic when inhaled and can cause irritating respiratory ailments.
