Ordinarily the radiant tubing must run at a lower temperature than the baseboard. This means that a mixing valve is used to provide a lower temperature for the radiant heating tube. It might be possible to avoid the expense of the mixing valve if the baseboard can be run at a lower temperature and if you select a radiant tubing with a high temperature rating, but the situation will not be ideal.

You will not need the humidifier as much because the air is more stable and not being changed as much.

The absolute maximum loop length for 1/2" tubing due to pressure loss from friction is 400', but we don't recommend loop lengths over 300'. For optimum performance, keep your radiant loops short. Shorter loop lengths work much better because they provide less temperature drop in the loop. Hot-spots and Cold-Spots become very noticeable with longer loop lengths. We stock BPex in 300' and 500' coils that can be cut to the exact length for shorter loops.

Yes. Install the tubing wherever you can fit it. Avoiding cabinets and bathtubs will only make those areas colder than the warm floor. And since radiant heat tends to equilibrate over the entire heated space, the thermal energy will flow to those unheated areas anyway. It's better to warm all the objects in the room and allow them to contribute to the overall warming of the living space.

Radiators are heavy items and should be securely fastened to the wall. Specific care should be taken to identify the construction of the wall and use the appropriate fasteners to secure the radiator bracket. Each radiator bracket has several positions for screws. All Radiator Company radiators are supplied with the correct fixings and detailed instructions, which are also available on line.

The stock radiator is good enough for the V6. Some modifications have to be done for the radiator to work properly. The inlet and outlet on the radiator have to be modified to the same size as the V6 uses. Another alternative is to use the V8 MGB radiator

Water quality is critical. Vehicle manufacturers recommend mixing de-ionized or distilled water with antifreeze. Do not use tap water, which may contain minerals that will corrode your cooling system and/or cause scale buildup. Do not use water softened with salts. The water used in Arctic Blend? antifreeze is de-ionized, which is chemically equivalent to distilled water.

Any fuel gas lines installed using copper tube must be brazed using a filler metal containing less than 0.05% P (phosphorus) and a melting temperature greater than 1000 degrees F. The only filler metal (trade and industry standard) that contains less than the 0.05% P would be an AWS BAg type alloy (according to the American Welding Society’s AWS A5.8 specification). Comap manifolds have balancing valves on all supply and return modules to regulate each loop for the best possible heat distribution.

The mainline tubing can generally be buried with no problems. However, it is possible for burrowing rodents like gophers or moles to chew right through the line. That aside, it is often desirable to bury the line to have it out of the way so it won't be seen or tripped over. Emitter tubing can always be covered with mulch, which is, in fact, desirable to protect it from the sun and extend its lifespan.

Cold air from infiltration falls. Cold air from conduction falls. Floor temperature falls in temperature by radiant loss to that of the average surface temperature. Your floors will be cold ( 50° F is not uncommon) unless you heat them no matter how well you insulate.

You vehicle's coolant system is set for the proper coolant mix. With plain water, or the wrong mix, your engine could get too hot, but you wouldn't get the "overheated" warning. Your engine could be badly damaged and might even catch fire. Also, too much water in the mix can freeze and crack the engine, radiator, heater core, and other parts. Damage resulting from using plain water or the wrong mixture would not be covered by your warranty.

Yes, if your boiler is corrosion resistant and you use a stainless steel or bronze circulator pump and fittings, but the small additional cost for BPex is well worth the money. We recommend BPex or PAX tubing for all radiant systems.
