Can I use radiant tubing in place of a radiator?
Radiantec : FAQ Frequently Asked Questions, Radiant Heat, Sy...Ordinarily the radiant tubing must run at a lower temperature than the baseboard. This means that a mixing valve is used to provide a lower temperature for the radiant heating tube. It might be possible to avoid the expense of the mixing valve if the baseboard can be run at a lower temperature and if you select a radiant tubing with a high temperature rating, but the situation will not be ideal.
If I use radiant, will I still need a humidifier?
Radiantec : FAQ Frequently Asked Questions, Radiant Heat, Sy...You will not need the humidifier as much because the air is more stable and not being changed as much.
What is the best length for the radiant tubing loops?
HRH FAQ'sThe absolute maximum loop length for 1/2" tubing due to pressure loss from friction is 400', but we don't recommend loop lengths over 300'. For optimum performance, keep your radiant loops short. Shorter loop lengths work much better because they provide less temperature drop in the loop. Hot-spots and Cold-Spots become very noticeable with longer loop lengths. We stock BPex in 300' and 500' coils that can be cut to the exact length for shorter loops.
Where can I find a place to go tubing?
Toobing FAQ - Frequently Asked QuestionsHere in southern Alabama there are several good places to go tubing within a two hour drive. One place that is only about 35 miles from Downtown Mobile Alabama is Styx River Canoe and Tube Rental in beautiful Loxley Alabama. From Mobile, take I-10 east to the Wilcox Road exit, turn to the left and go over the interstate and then turn right at Alabama Fireworks World, continue on for about two miles till you pass Styx River Water World and Styx River Resort.
Can I use my existing boiler for both radiant heating and baseboard radiators?
Radiantec : FAQ Frequently Asked Questions, Radiant Heat, Sy...Yes you can. All you need to do is provide a Radiantec mixing valve to step down the temperature of the water to the radiant circuits. You mix hot water from the boiler with return water from the floor to provide a lower temperature.
Should radiant tubing be installed under cabinets and bathtubs?
Radiant Heat From Radiant Floor Company - FAQYes. Install the tubing wherever you can fit it. Avoiding cabinets and bathtubs will only make those areas colder than the warm floor. And since radiant heat tends to equilibrate over the entire heated space, the thermal energy will flow to those unheated areas anyway. It's better to warm all the objects in the room and allow them to contribute to the overall warming of the living space.
What should I use to secure the radiator to the wall?
FAQs & Helpful Information ContentRadiators are heavy items and should be securely fastened to the wall. Specific care should be taken to identify the construction of the wall and use the appropriate fasteners to secure the radiator bracket. Each radiator bracket has several positions for screws. All Radiator Company radiators are supplied with the correct fixings and detailed instructions, which are also available on line.
What type of radiator should I use?
CCE Product 4The stock radiator is good enough for the V6. Some modifications have to be done for the radiator to work properly. The inlet and outlet on the radiator have to be modified to the same size as the V6 uses. Another alternative is to use the V8 MGB radiator
What type of water should I use in my radiator?
Arctic Blend? Universal Antifreeze & Coolant FAQWater quality is critical. Vehicle manufacturers recommend mixing de-ionized or distilled water with antifreeze. Do not use tap water, which may contain minerals that will corrode your cooling system and/or cause scale buildup. Do not use water softened with salts. The water used in Arctic Blend? antifreeze is de-ionized, which is chemically equivalent to distilled water.
Should one use solder or silver solder for joining copper tubing in fuel gas system?
Fuel Gas: Copper Fuel Gas System FAQ (Frequently Asked Quest...Any fuel gas lines installed using copper tube must be brazed using a filler metal containing less than 0.05% P (phosphorus) and a melting temperature greater than 1000 degrees F. The only filler metal (trade and industry standard) that contains less than the 0.05% P would be an AWS BAg type alloy (according to the American Welding Society’s AWS A5.8 specification). In no case should solder or “soft-solder” be used to join copper tube and fittings in fuel gas systems.
Can I use my own tubing to connect to the flange?
Pot Drain FAQsNo. The Pottery Trainer tube is a special tube. It is designed to be self cleaning, drain a large volume of water and fit water tight to the flange.
Can you use radiant heat in the floors?
Untitled DocumentYes. There are different manufacturers and different methods, but it has become more and more common this past decade.
Why should I use a Comap manifold for my radiant system?
HRH FAQ'sComap manifolds are modular so you can easily expand the system to as many zones and loops as you need. Just add one return module and one supply module to the Comap Connection kit for each loop to assemble your own manifold. It can be configured as a single zone manifold with multiple loops or as a multiple zone manifold. Comap manifolds have balancing valves on all supply and return modules to regulate each loop for the best possible heat distribution.
Can I bury the tubing?
DripWorks Frequently Asked QuestionsThe mainline tubing can generally be buried with no problems. However, it is possible for burrowing rodents like gophers or moles to chew right through the line. That aside, it is often desirable to bury the line to have it out of the way so it won't be seen or tripped over. Emitter tubing can always be covered with mulch, which is, in fact, desirable to protect it from the sun and extend its lifespan.
What is a Radiant Barrier?
Reflectix Inc. | Company Profile | Frequently Asked Question...Radiant Barrier is a material that is a poor re-transmitter of infrared waves (radiant energy). By definition, this re-transmission characteristic (emissivity) must be at or below 10%. The emissivity of Reflectix? products is approximately 3%. Therefore, when a Radiant Barrier is installed in a residential attic, it "blocks" 90% + of the radiant energy that is being radiated by the hot roofing materials.
Why is radiant more efficient?
Radiantec : FAQ Frequently Asked Questions, Radiant Heat, Sy...Cold air from infiltration falls. Cold air from conduction falls. Floor temperature falls in temperature by radiant loss to that of the average surface temperature. Your floors will be cold ( 50° F is not uncommon) unless you heat them no matter how well you insulate.
Why would I use a Radiator Flush?
Bar's Leaks FAQMinerals & deposits build up over time which can cause overheating. Bar's Leaks Radiator Flush will help your cooling system by removing these deposits and leaving your system factory clean.
Why can't I just use water in my radiator?
KEMPER CADILLAC | Bridgewater, New JerseyYou vehicle's coolant system is set for the proper coolant mix. With plain water, or the wrong mix, your engine could get too hot, but you wouldn't get the "overheated" warning. Your engine could be badly damaged and might even catch fire. Also, too much water in the mix can freeze and crack the engine, radiator, heater core, and other parts. Damage resulting from using plain water or the wrong mixture would not be covered by your warranty.
Can I use Pex tubing instead of the more expensive BPex or PAX tubing?
HRH FAQ'sYes, if your boiler is corrosion resistant and you use a stainless steel or bronze circulator pump and fittings, but the small additional cost for BPex is well worth the money. We recommend BPex or PAX tubing for all radiant systems.
