The Internet Connection Wizard makes short work of setting up your email box by walking you through each step for every e-mail account you set up. Start Outlook Express, and on the Tools menu, click Accounts. If the Internet Connection Wizard starts up automatically, skip ahead to step 4. On the 'Your Name' page of the wizard, type your name as you want it to appear to everyone who gets e-mail from you, and then click Next.

Outlook Express is the most commonly used email application. We have a Step-by-Step instruction page that you can print out and use as a guide (Click here). If you have more than one email account, you may be interested in setting up separate Outlook Express Identities so that each email account has its own Inbox. If you want email from multiple accounts to reside in the same Inbox, just follow the steps in the guide again for each account you wish to setup.

Outlook Express Identities are used when you want to keep email from different accounts in separate Inbox folders. We have a Step-by-Step instruction page that you can print out and use as a guide (Click here).

If you run the .ini file to configure your PC for dialup access (see that section in the FAQ's) then that will also automatically configure Outlook Express with your new email address details. You can edit this (eg. to amend the name that emails are sent from) by selecting Tools, Accounts from the Outlook Express menu and selecting the DSSnet account that will have been created. (If it is not there, then see the section on re-running the .ini file in the Dialup FAQ's)

You will need to create a new mail profile for GOTH.NET. To do this, click on the Tools drop-down menu, and select Accounts. Once there, click the Add button, and then select Mail. This will open up a wizard that you can use to setup your GOTH.NET profile. The first question is what your display name will be. This can be anything you want, just type in what you want people to see in the From field when you send mail. The next question is your email address, this should be your GOTH.

If you would like to add an e-mail address to Outlook Express, follow the procedure below. You can configure Outlook Express to check as many e-mail addresses as you like. You can use the control panel's automatic Outlook Export Tool to setup your email account. To do this: Once clicked, the server sends a registry file to your computer so that when Windows reads it, it will automatically setup your mail account in Outlook Express.

If this is the first time Outlook Express has been setup, you will be automatically re-directed to the "Internet Connection Wizard". If this is the case, please continue with step three. If you are not greeted with the "Internet Connection Wizard", click where it says "Set up a Mail account...". Once you have completed step two, you should have a new window open titled "Internet Connection Wizard". Fill in your display name.

Make a note of what you currently have in the "incoming mail server" entry (the name of your POP3 server). Change the "incoming mail server" from the name of your POP3 server to "localhost" (no quotes). Open the SpamBayes configuration page at http://localhost:8880/config (you can do this via the tray application, or just type that address into your browser). Enter your POP3 server's name in the top box ("Remote Servers").

Outlook receives email OK but gives an "unknown user" error message when sending to any other email address other than your own.

In Outlook/Outlook Express, Click on Tools/Accounts. Click on the Add button. Follow the wizard to setup your account. The mailservers will be mail.(yourdomain).com for both SMTP and POP3. Your username is your complete email address.

You can protect access to Outlook Express by restricting access to its executable file, msimn.exe, which is usually located in the C:\Program Files\Outlook Express folder. You can also protect individual folders used by Outlook Express by restricting access to the appropriate message files, located in the Store Folder of Outlook Express.
