If you have been charged with a minor moving traffic violation, you have three options in handling your case:

Yes, you may plead not guilty by completing an Affidavit of Defense and filing it with the Clerk's Office. A bond is required to be posted with the Clerk's Office before the Affidavit can be reviewed and ruled on by the court. You will not need to appear before the court. Once a citation is written it is forwarded to Crawford County Municipal Court the next business day. You can either pay the waiver amount on the back of the citation, or if you wish to contest the citation you will need to appear in court on the time and date listed on the bottom of the citation.Back to top of page

Verify that you are entering the correct information and that the citation was issued in Miami-Dade County. Be aware that although the ticket may not be entered in our system, citations must be satisfied within 30 days to avoid penalties.

Indicate that information on the questionnaire; provide your current address, sign, date, and return in the envelope provided. Your name will be removed from the Vernon County list.

Probably not, by New Mexico law, the license plate belongs to the owner and not the vehicle. If you sold your vehicle without removing the license plate and can provide documentation that the vehicle in question was sold prior to the violation date the ticket will be dismissed.

You may mail in your payment using the addressed envelope you received with your citation or you may pay your citation in person at the Bursar's Office in the 115 Wilder Tower. The Parking Office at 120 Zach Curlin Parking Garage does not take payments of citations. You may appeal any citation received at the Parking Office at 120 Zach Curlin Parking Garage. Student Appeals are heard by the Student Government's Association. Faculty/Staff Appeals are heard by the Faculty/Staff Appeal Committee.

Wait to receive your paperwork from the court. Most courts will mail you a courtesy notice about two to three weeks after you receive a citation. This notice will inform you of the bail amount you must pay for the citation as well as your traffic school eligibility. Most courts will charge an administrative fee to allow you to complete traffic school in addition to the bail amount. Make sure to pay the required fees by your issuing court's payment due date.

Traffic and criminal citations can be paid at the Washington County Courthouse in Cottage Grove at 8180 Belden Blvd. They can be contacted at (651) 430-4000 with any questions on fines or court dates. Administrative Ordinance Citations issued by the City can be paid at City Hall at 7516 - 80th Street South.

All Marta Citations have a fine amount of $65.00. This $65.00 fine can be paid in the same manner as described above for traffic citations. Animal Control cases are only resolved by you coming to court. Animal Control Court is held only at the 185 Central Avenue location in courtroom 4C.

Yes. If you are age 13 through 17 and convicted of a first alcohol violation, or age 13 through 20 and convicted of a first drug violation, your driving privilege will be revoked for 1 year or until age 17, whichever is longer. For a second offense your driving privilege will be revoked for 2 years, or until age 18, whichever is longer. You will not be able to obtain a license/instruction permit or take driver education during the revocation period.

The individual should complete Section D with the new owner's information (included with the citation) and return it to the Traffic Violations Bureau, P.O. Box 910474, San Diego, CA 92127.

Yes. Students, staff, and faculty can request a hearing. You must file for a hearing within 10 days of issuance of the citation. Hearings are held once a month for faculty/staff and once a week for students. You have a choice to be present or not. Hearing forms can be obtained at the Parking Management Department.

You can appeal a parking citation within 10 days of the issuance date. You can appeal the citation by filling out the appeal section on the back of the pink copy of the citation, or come in to Campus Safety and get a Citation Appeal Form to complete, or click here to get a copy of the appeal form.

You have 10 days to respond to a citation issued by a police officer. Your response must be addressed to Magisterial District Judge John D. Whitesell's office and not the police department. Follow the instructions on the back of your copy of the citation.
