The usual cause of this problem is a mis-configured CDROM drive. Many PCs now ship with the CDROM as the slave device on the secondary IDE controller, with no master device on that controller. This is illegal according to the ATAPI specification, but Windows plays fast and loose with the specification, and the BIOS ignores it when booting. This is why the BIOS was able to see the CDROM to boot from it, but why FreeBSD cannot see it to complete the install.

Scsi emulation is preferred, since it enables cdda2wav to use more commands and is often the only way to get special information like track titles with cd-text. The emulation module is called ide-scsi, the eide module is called ide-cd.

The Volume Manager (vold) is probably holding the device open. You can access a floppy through the volume manager by typing "volcheck" and looking in /floppy/*. CD-ROMs don't require volcheck; just insert one and the volume manager should automatically notice, and mount it under /cdrom/*. Unmount by typing "eject floppy" or "eject cdrom", respectively. The Volume Manager can be configured by editing /etc/vold.conf.

ANWSER: Read the INSTALL NOTES ! It's explained in there, you have to copy a so called crack to your game dir. The crack is usually located in the Crack folder on the CD. Usually there's just 1 file but sometimes there are more, copy all of them to your game dir where the main exe file is located. Overwrite it and try to run the game again. You can now play without a CD ! Be sure that you downloaded the anti-leech plugin, when you click on a link you'll be asked to install the plugin.

The installer includes support for generic IDE devices, CDROMs connected via an Adaptec SCSI interface, and CDROMs connected via USB. If your drive doesn't fit into any of these categories, then the installer also includes the ability to use a driver you provide (although in many cases finding a USB CDROM drive will be easier than finding a driver . . .).

If you purchase a multi-user version, yes. If there are 15 students in your classroom, purchase the version for use by 13-20 students. Although you are allowed to use the multi-user CD on a closed classroom network, no CDROM may be made accessible via the Internet without specific written permission (Terms & Conditions).

If your computer doesn't automount a cd once you've inserted it, you can mount it by starting your file browser ("Applications->File Browser" from your desktop's panel), then selecting the "Computer" icon inside of the file browser, and finally double clicking the cd device's icon.

Make sure that your module sits securely in the socket. The module should snap into the clips on the socket. Next, turn on your computer. If it turns on and runs properly with no error messages, you most likely installed the memory correctly. To be sure, you can check the "Properties" of your Windows-based PC to see how much memory you have.

It took me 21 hours to install. The first time always takes longer, I was taking notes for the web site, with more practice I could reduce the time several hours. There is not alot of room under the hood of the PT, but once installed, people comment "It looks stock". It comes with step-by-step instructions that are pretty good, but I recommend having a qualified technician install it. There are many items that need to be modified by grinding, drilling and tapping threads etc.

Below the list of deactivated plugins you will find a list of "broken plugins". Broken plugins are subdirectories inside your plugin directory that do not contain any plugin files. If a plugin shows up on that list after it has been installed, this means that the plugin cannot be installed by PlugInstaller. You may safely delete the broken plugin by selecting the "delete" link behind the directory name.

All non-SCSI cards are known to be extremely slow compared to SCSI drives, and some ATAPI CDROMs may not work.

This generally means that there is no CDROM in the CDROM drive, or the drive is not visible on the bus. Feed the drive something, and/or check its master/slave status if it is IDE (ATAPI). It can take a couple of seconds for a CDROM drive to notice that it has been fed, so be patient. Sometimes a SCSI CDROM may be missed because it had not enough time to answer the bus reset. If you have a SCSI CDROM please try to add the following symbol into your kernel configuration file and recompile.
