Road Conditions: Mostly asphalt pavement outside the cities and concrete pavement in the cities. Some tours may have some unpaved (gravel or metalled) sections. Check specific route descriptions for details. Traffic Conditions: Cities are generally busy, most with separated bike paths parallel to and on both sides of the road. Outside the cities, some major roads have higher speed traffic, while mountain roads have slower traffic.

The Sun Domes will usually take winds up to 40-45 mph, however, it is not made to withstand heavy sustained winds, and more important, the weight of snow. In heavy snowfall areas, it is necessary to remove the dome before the first snowfall, on a sunny day.

Like learning to climb a hill, you will need to train for a while until you are able to keep up. Don't expect to just hop on and go as fast as you used to, or you'll be disappointed. Rest assured, eventually you'll be able to keep up. And, you'll be a lot more comfortable than they are! It also depends on the type of recumbent you ride. Some models are more comfort-oriented, while others are designed for speed.

A large number of students are street riders. Some have real world experiences after attending Supercamp that prove how well the techniques work. A panic stop on the street is exactly what we are practicing - only in a controlled environment at lower speeds.

For residential customers, we will collect your garbage and recyclables on the next business day (weather and road conditions permitting). If we cannot get back on the next business day, then your garbage and recyclables (including any material missed) will be collected on the next regularly scheduled pick-up day for your neighborhood. Due to it’s high altitude and the fact it only has 1 thin road that allows access to it, Avoriaz can occasionally be very difficult to access by road. In the case of severely adverse weather/road conditions going up to Avoriaz from Morzine, Ski-Lifts Ltd reserve the right to explore other suitable transport options for our customers to reach Avoriaz from Morzine (or vice verca). This will only ever be done where it is felt there is a substantial risk involved in attempting the journey.

In mild winter areas no winter protection is needed. In colder climates the level of insulation is dependant on the severity of the cold weather. It is always a good idea to check out what other rose fanciers are doing in your area. In most cases, some light pruning is needed to physically tie up the plants. There are many ways to insulate your plants, first some type of container or barrier is needed to keep the organic insulation in place.

On our tours, we use the best highways available in the areas we travel. In Latin America, some of the roads are 6-lane freeways, others are little more than country roads. The size of our group and pre-trip planning allows us to travel slow when roads are rough. Toll roads are used where needed, we have carefully planned our tours on routes which do not always require the use of a toll road, because the free road is either just as good or more scenic.

Generally, any bike- a road bike, a mountain bike, a hybrid- can be used in a triathlon. In fact, some courses (many turns, lot's of climbs and descents, are slightly better suited for a classic road bike. However, the bike-leg of a triathlon is basically a time trial. You want to go as fast as you can, using as little energy as possible. A triathlon frame has slightly different geometry.

No. Much of the journey across Spain and Morocco is well surfaced with high quality asphalt ad excellently surfaced. The road in Mauritania could be brand new by the time we get there, but presently it is well surfaced for the most part and pot-holed further south. Ride carefully around the broken sections and you’ll be fine. There is more piste in Mali and some softer sandy sections on the way to Timbuktu.

We are concerned about what corporations and even public agencies are doing that might damage the environment and make this a less pleasant place to live, especially for our children. Road agencies are subject to this scrutiny, and yes, they can do things that could affect the environment. Fortunately, most have become aware of the need to protect the environment.

Heat exhaustion is the primary condition that a horse must be safe-guarded against in hot weather, especially during combinations of high temperature and high humidity. This relates to the horse's ability to cool itself as well as stay hydrated and can be potentially fatal. Signs of heat exhaustion can include a weak, disoriented, or staggering gait, breathing problems, a high rectal temperature (over 40.5 C), muscle tremors, or even collapse or seizure.

Horses are well-engineered for cold weather conditions. Having evolved on windswept mountain steppes millennia ago, they are good at maintaining their core body temperatures even when the exterior thermometer plunges well below freezing. Their coats provide excellent water repellency, and their guttural pouches, at the back of the throat, are thought to help warm cold air before it makes its way down to the delicate tissues of the lungs.

Generally speaking, llamas do fine with any cold weather. They do need to be able to get into shelter in severe cold wind conditions or the tips of their ears can become frost bitten. And of course, baby llamas are more susceptible to the cold than the adults - we put little coats and neck warmers on ours! Hot, humid weather is more dangerous for llamas than the cold. When the weather is hot and/or humid, llamas should have access to shade and preferrably a fan to keep them from overheating.

Class will be conducted in spite of the weather forecast. In the event of unsafe surface conditions (example: ice on the streets), then we will notify you to reschedule the class, based on your contact information you provide us at the time of registration. Rain, heat, wind, and snow flurries are not causes for cancellation. We work around these types of conditions as best as possible keeping student safety top priority. Dress for the weather and be prepared for the expected and the unexpected.
