The thicker the wire, generally speaking the more conductivity you will get. But in mildly tuned applications, you will not likely notice a difference. More often than not, people change them more for looks.

Moroso and Mr. Gasket make loom kits that route the wires across the top of the valve covers and then drop a pair of plug wires almost straight down between the header tubes. But they only work if you have 90 degree boots on straight plug heads (some angle plug heads have spark plug clearance problems). If you keep the slack in the plug wires to a minimum, the plug wires survive just fine. These kits are especially nice if you have A/C as they allow a fairly tight clearance to the head.

Despite ads by certain wire manufacturers claiming increased power from their wires, this is not a reality. Unless your present set of wires is old and damaged causing misfires, these magic wires are not going to increase power. For some excellent reading on ignition wires go to www.magnecor.com.

Many of the performance shops recommend you change them every 30-50k miles. I am not convinced whether this is really needed. The general rule of thumb is that the wire's resistance should be around 12kOhms per foot, and not more than 50kOhms/foot. Check also for the specific values in the car's manual.

Spark plugs, wires, distributor caps and rotors break down and fail over time due to exposure to moisture, oil, grease and under hood temperatures that can reach as much as 550 to 700 degrees. Worn spark plugs cause higher voltage requirements, forcing the ignition module and coil to produce higher and higher voltages to over- come the resistance. The higher voltage breaks down the spark plug.

GM cut the threads for the 8 sparkplug holes in your car so they start at random angles. AC/Delco makes sparkplugs the same way. The threads on the plug are random, relative to the electrode construction. Therefore, some plug gaps point up, some down, and some sideways. However, the plugs are the most efficient when the gap faces "up" or toward the center of the combustion chamber. Otherwise the flame must travel around the electrode to get to the entire air/fuel mixture in the cylinder.

Spark plugs are typically available in different heat ranges. The plugs that we sell on the NEUSPEED website are suitable for stock engines and mildly modified engines. However, there are times when you might need plug that performs slightly different from our standard listing. Hot" and "Cold" refer to whether the plug is higher or lower on the heat range scale compared to the standard replacement plug recommended for your car.

A Champion D-16 can be used in all British Seagulls. If you have the Mk 1 and Mk 2 ignitions, then you use a gap of .020". If you have the Mk3 Wipac ignition, then your gap must be no less than .035" You should always carry a spare plug as it is the easiest fix on a seagull. Note that the very early seagulls - the 102 styles specified a gap of .015 to .018". This was due to the fuel used at the time and now a gap of .020" is recommended.

Both the VE and VG use the NGK plug as a stock spark plug. The VE requires a platinum plug, which can run fairly expensive, at about $9/plug. I don't have the part numbers for this plug yet. The VG also uses an NGK plug, but they are non-platinum and cost just over $1/plug. Part numbers: Standard Type BKR6ES-11; Hot Type BKR5ES-11; Cold Type BKR7ES-11; Plug Gap 0.039 - 0.043 in (1.0 - 1.1 mm). Check your coolant level. this is a common problem.

On a Civic, the stock plugs are made by NGK and the performance is fine even for tuned applications. Unless you are doing serious modifications such as forced induction, etc.. there is not need to change the plugs to aftermarket ones. They may offer more spark, etc.. but it's unlikely that you will notice a difference.

Most definitely. We have found that the best spark plugs to use are standard copper core plugs such as Autolite. Double platinum plugs burn too cool. Standard plugs burn at a higher rate which this system needs. And, at the same time, you are saving money because the copper plugs are less expensive. In the newer vehicles Iridium spark plugs are also acceptable.

The spark plug is what causes ignition. It takes a voltage surge from the coil through the distributor, and produces a high voltage spark that ignites the compressed/boosted air fuel mixture within each cylinder. If everything is working properly and your fuel curve is set appropriately, an even and safe burning of the compressed mixture will result. The piston is pushed down, the crankshaft turns, and the engine runs efficiently.

A13. Most plugs are now preset at the factory and shouldn't need to be adjusted. Please refer to your owners handbook/manual for the correct gap setting. If you do not have the data available then we may be able to check it for you.

the spark plug used on trimmers, blowers, edgers and hedgers is a Champion RCJ-6Y. Follow the spark plug recommendation and replacement procedures in the operator's manual.

The fuel filter is located in the fuel tank.We recommend changing the fuel filter yearly. To remove the filter, drain your unit of fuel and remove the fuel cap/retainer assembly from the tank. Pull the filter from the tank and remove it from the end of the fule line. Install the new filter and reassemble.
