What is the difference between dry-ice and water ice?

FAQ's - Products > ICEBITZZZ™ Dry Ice Solutions | L...
Compared to water ice, dry-ice offers a far greater cooling capacity. It also maintains a higher degree of efficient cooling for many hours after water ice has lost its cooling function and simply melted away. In cases where it is imperative to use water ice, dry-ice can also be used to prolong the life of the water ice. While you will have water as a residue after water ice has melted, dry-ice leaves no residue whatsoever.

What is dry ice?

Frequently asked questions | FAQs | Milk and milk products
Dry ice is solid carbon dioxide with a freezing point of -78°C (-109°F). It is extensively used for package deliveries of frozen dairy products such as ice cream. It is cut into pieces of appropriate size, which are wrapped in paper to avoid rapid evaporation and then placed around the package of the ice cream inside an insulated packer or in a single service type packer. What's the difference between dry ice, liquid nitrogen, oil and water based smoke machines?

Smoke Machines FAQs
Dry ice and liquid nitrogen smoke machines both create a heavy low lying fog effect. The materials they use to create this are often difficult and expensive to get hold of for most people, hard to store, and the effect can now be easily created on demand by new electronic water based versions. Disney theme parks tend to use nitrogen foggers as the cost of liquid nitrogen is less in bulk than special effect fog fluids. See similar questions...

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE IN ICE MADE FROM FILTERED WATER AND ICE MADE FROM PURIFIED WATER?

Purified Ice Home
Filtration is just the beginning with a purification process. There are real limits to what filtrations can remove from water. When reverse osmosis purification is the goal, filtrations are used to prepare the water for purification. Pre-filtrations remove the contaminants indicated in the filtration section below. Purification by reverse osmosis is designed to remove all dissolved solids including but not limited to unseen viruses, bacteria, and salts. See similar questions...

Why would my water well go dry?

WVGES Frequently Asked Questions
Well failure and aquifer failure are the two reasons why water wells go dry. A water well fails when it no longer transmits water from the aquifer to the pump intake. In West Virginia, this is usually caused by corrosion and scale and occasionally by algae, bacteria, or improper well development. aquifer fails when the water table falls below the bottom of the well. I’m not sure whether to get a dry ice fogger or a chemical fogger. What's the difference?

PNTA | FAQs
Dry ice fog hugs the ground, dissipating relatively quickly. Chemical fog floats and disperses in the air, taking a longer time to dissipate. See similar questions...

What is 'dry ice'?

Smoke Machines FAQs
Dry ice is solid carbon dioxide gas. It's called dry ice because when it 'melts' it changes in state from a solid directly to a gas without ever becoming a liquid. This process is called sublimation. When dry ice is put into boiling water it sublimates and creates these clouds of thick heavy fog which clings to the ground (because it is cold and more dense than air). See similar questions...

How about water and ice?

Tales of Asia - FAQ - Food
Do not drink the water!!!! Many of us won't even use it to brush our teeth! Bottled water is readily available and any brand, even the cheapest, is fine. Phnom Penh Municipality claims their water is treated and safe to drink and this is probably true. However, by the time the water reaches the tap it's probably been contaminated. More of a problem, though, is that many businesses and residences still use private storage tanks and these may very likely have some form of contaminants in them. See similar questions...

H. Can I use Dry Ice in my Swampy rather than regular ice?

No. It is not worth the risk & it does not last any longer than regular block ice. The following is an article of information regarding the use of Dry Ice: Normal air is 78% Nitrogen, 21% Oxygen and only 0.035% Carbon Dioxide. If the concentration of carbon dioxide (The Chemical Composition of Dry Ice) in the air rises above 0.5%, carbon dioxide can become dangerous. Smaller concentrations can cause quicker breathing but is otherwise not harmful. See similar questions...
