Artwork for all custom sign letters, plaques and logos need to be vector based. Vector--eps, ai, dxf, cdr--(not jpeg, gif or bitmap) files are required for provided production artwork. Art charges of $25.00 or more apply to non-compliant art to facilitate file conversions. NO art charges for text-only, standard-size plaques. Bitmaps, tiffs, gifs and jpegs are welcomed for layout & logo submissions.

To upload your equipment photo, from My Profile click the link to Add My Equipment. Click order Expanded Equipment Listing option. You can upload your own photo and have it displayed for free until your equipment sells. After purchasing the Expanded option return to Add My Equipment from My Profile, fill out the form and click the "Browse" button and select the appropriate picture file from your hard drive. File format should be ".JPG".

For photographic and fine art editions, our ideal file format is a flattened RGB tiff. We also accept jpegs, PDFs, and native Adobe PhotoShop formats. Optimum image resolution is 300-360 dpi at the final size to be printed. Resolution below 150 dpi may show pixilation. Display and design files can be submitted in most popular design programs, such as InDesign, Illustrator, or Quark. Please accompany design files with image links and fonts (or outlined fonts).

We prefer Adobe Illustrator (.ai) files that are separated with colors on different layers. This file format allows us to scale the artwork to the desired size. We can also use Adobe Photoshop (.psd) files, or .eps or .jpg files formats. File formats that are not in the Illustrator (.ai) format may be an additional charge.

The data is saved using SQLite and is in that binary format. If you want external access to this data, we plan to export it as an XML file similar in format to the iTunes file but this has not been implemented yet.

gl files have nothing to do with OpenGL, but are sometimes confused with it. .gl is a file format for images, which has no relationship to IRIS GL or OpenGL.

Shorten (extension .shn) is an audio compression scheme written by Tony Robinson of SoftSound that can compact wav files without subtracting out any frequencies. It's "lossless"- everything in the original wav is there, so that full quality is maintained. For many traders of live music, Shorten files (shns) therefore have an undisputed advantage over "lossy" mp3-format files.

There is not a prescribed format for the log file. The log file is to aid diagnosing problems in an executable. In deciding which information to write to the log file, participants should avoid making the log file too large. If too much information is reported, the file could be too large. If the file is too large it may not be possible for FRVT 2006 personnel to search the log file to provide you with useful information.

We can scan existing texts and covers. During the process of scanning a book the cover and binding are destroyed. The final quality of the books that are subsequently printed is directly influenced by the shape of the original. There will be a degradation in quality in some cases (e.g. photographs) due to the process. The printed cover will approximate that of your monitor or printer but it will not be exactly alike.
