Semester programs require students to be at least 18 years old and have 30 credits to study abroad. Therefore, most students study abroad during their sophomore or junior years for a semester. Loyola University Chicago has a unique campus in Rome, Italy, where graduate social work classes have been taught for the past three summers. The Rome Center is a 20-minute bus ride from the Vatican.
